Overview: Under general direction, The Finance Manager (Business Partner) at Blue Cross will support our Commercial Business Segment and will develop and maintain a strong partnership with this and other business units to provide a profit and loss perspective, facilitate change, and improve financial performance.
Responsibilities: <strong>The responsibilities will include but will not be limited to the following:</strong><br /> <ul> <li>Provide integrated enterprise-wide reporting of financial plans.</li> <li>Maintain an understanding of client's business model/processes to ensure efficiency across business units.</li> <li>Provide consultation to business units regarding products, pricing, and financial arrangements.</li> <li>Work with leadership to identify and understand how the BCBSM business model and key business processes impact the business unit to help drive financial strategy, reduce benefit cost trends, increase healthcare value, capture greater market share and/or product value.</li> <li>Evaluate cost structures and process flows for a designated business unit to reduce costs and increase efficiencies.</li> <li>Assist business unit in the implementation of financial strategies and development of annual resource allocation requests to meet continuous improvement goals and forecast business needs.</li> <li>Evaluate client's administrative spending against external benchmarks and provide recommendations based on best practices.</li> <li>Develop metrics related to new and revised processes and use the data to make recommendations for improvements.</li> <li>Make recommendations based upon vendor analysis to capitalize on potential opportunities for acquisition or joint ventures.</li> <li>Educate client regarding changes to business strategy/processes and their impact on financial and operational results.</li> <li>Assist in the development of client's financial business plan to ensure adherence to budget requirements and the corporate capital plan.</li> <li>Manage accounting support team and collaborate with other Business Partners and Shared Services to promote a common integrated financial process.</li> <li>Manage activities related to the preparation of various financial reports to help drive financial strategy and business unit performance.</li> <li>Other duties may be assigned.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance or related field required; Master's Degree preferred.</li> <li>Seven (7) to ten (10) years experience in Finance or related field required.</li> <li>One (1) to three (3) years demonstrated leadership ability required.</li> <li>Three (3) to five (5) years of healthcare and/or insurance plan experience preferred.</li> <li>Ability to work effectively in team environment and with multiple priorities and certain deadlines.</li> <li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills.</li> <li>Excellent problem solving, interpersonal, and organization skills.</li> <li>Proficient in current industry standard PC applications and systems (e.g., Word, Excel and PowerPoint).</li> <li>Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to perform this job.</li> <li>Certification (CPA, CMA, CFM) preferred.</li> </ul> <div><strong>Supervisor Responsibilities</strong></div> <div> <div> <div>Manages departmental subordinate supervisors who supervise departmental employees as shown on the organizational chart.&nbsp; Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit.&nbsp; Also directly supervises departmental non-supervisory employees.&nbsp; Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.&nbsp; Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.</div> <div><em>&nbsp;</em></div> <div> <div><em>All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to, among other grounds, race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, protected veteran status or status as an individual with a disability</em></div> </div> </div> </div>
