Overview: Provide strategy and direction to ensure integrated enterprise-wide reporting of financial plans. Create and drive client&rsquo;s business model/processes and ensure efficiency across business units. Develop and maintain strong partnerships to provide a profit and loss perspective to business units, facilitate change, and improve financial performance. Collaborate with Shared Services to develop integrated financial strategies, plans and processes.
Responsibilities: <ul type="disc"> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Build influential partnerships with clients and provide a profit and loss perspective.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Oversee how the BCBSM business model and key business processes impact the business unit to help drive financial strategy.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Assist business units in creating strategies for meeting continuous improvement goals and forecasting business needs.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Develop recommendations regarding anticipated changes for the financial strategy of the business.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Create the opportunity for employee growth and development by building a talent management plan.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Evaluate cost structures and process flows against external benchmarks to ensure best practices that reduce costs and increase efficiencies across business units.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Ensure the preparation of various financial reports to help drive financial strategy and business unit performance.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Oversee vendor analysis to capitalize on potential opportunities for acquisition or joint ventures.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Ensure client awareness regarding changes to business strategy/processes and their impact on financial and operational results.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Ensure client&rsquo;s financial business plan adheres to budget requirements and corporate capital plan.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Oversee the development of metrics related to new and revised processes.</span></li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul type="disc"> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree in Accounting or Finance or related field required; Master&rsquo;s Degree preferred.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Ten (10) or more years of experience in Finance or related field required.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Three (3) to Five (5) years of managerial experience with demonstrated leadership ability required.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP).</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Working knowledge of financial transactions flow and their financial statements impact.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Certification (CPA, CMA, CFA) preferred.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Ability to work effectively in team environment and with multiple priorities and certain deadlines.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Excellent written and verbal communication skills.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Excellent problem solving, interpersonal, and organization skills.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Proficient in current industry standard PC applications and systems (e.g., Word, Excel and PowerPoint).</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to perform this job.</span></li> </ul> <strong>Departmental Preferences</strong><br /> <ul> <li>Demonstrated successful leadership experience required.</li> <li>This position will lead a 20+ person investment accounting department.</li> <li>Oversees the investment accounting business model and reports directly to the corporate controller.</li> <li>CPA or CFA certification preferred.</li> <li>Will build and maintain a strong partnership with Treasury, IT and the broader finance organization.</li> </ul> <br /> <div><em><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to, among other grounds, race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, gender identity, protected veteran status or status as an individual with a disability.</span></em></div>
