Overview: <div><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: small;">Ensures actuarial systems and databases conform to and utilize actuarial setting methodologies that produce efficient, consistent and integrated data as there is a significant financial impact.</span></div> <div><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: small;">&nbsp;</span></div> <div><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: small;">Communicate in a clear manner to influence key business partners. Collaboration with IT and data stewards to support actuarial and underwriting data needs. Strong business partner to actuary and underwriting teams to support pricing and actuarial analysis.</span></div> <div><span style="font-family: Arial;">&nbsp;</span></div> <div><strong><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: small;">Operational leader of the department, providing guidance and leadership for the team. Engage supervisors, analysts and students in achieving successful completion of pricing initiatives and reporting. Work with senior leaders to establish project timelines, outcomes and outreach.</span></strong></div>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Monitor overall work of staff, projects and initiatives.&nbsp; Monitor data quality of pricing and analytics database.</li> <li>Create, maintain and manage new models, reports and tools such as risk prediction models, cost models, profitability&nbsp;models and others to support actuarial and underwriting functions.</li> <li>Remain current on actuarial, analytical and statistical techniques, seek development and improvement opportunities and understand corporate/cross functional objectives and cultural beliefs.</li> <li>Work with senior leaders to develop data/analytical strategy including data infrastructure, analytical pathways, methodologies and models that will be utilized by the data and analytics team.</li> <li>Plan, lead and deliver projects utilizing a comprehensive understanding of complex actuarial and statistical principles and practices.</li> <li>Conduct research, validate data and make recommendations using advanced principles in order to resolve a variety of problems in the absence of guidelines or precedents.</li> <li>Manage data used by the department and other partners to ensure its integrity and quality.</li> <li>Other duties as assigned.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science or related area.</li> <li>Six (6) years' experience in the healthcare insurance industry including knowledge of claims, clinical data, and actuarial or analytics experience. Leadership experience required.</li> <li>Knowledge of actuarial and underwriting (renewals and pricing) preferred.</li> <li>Advanced data science/analytics skills including ability to use R/SAS in developing models.</li> <li>Advanced programming/database skills including ability to query from databases and write SQL.</li> <li>Well-developed verbal and written communication skills ability to apply appropriate planning and prioritization techniques. Ability to present to senior levels of the organization.</li> <li>Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to perform this job.</li> </ul>
