Overview: <p>The Lean Consultant is a professional who will possess industry or subject matter experience along with professional and academic achievement. You should have experience in a consulting environment and have several years of experience in a consulting role. You must be capable of working and communicating with all levels of an organization, from the line-level to the executive suite. You may occasionally work on an independent basis but&nbsp;should&nbsp;also be capable&nbsp;of leading small projects by providing relevant knowledge and direction. Your work may also include involvement in multiple project work streams, small engagement teams or components of larger, more complex engagements. You will interface with company leadership and other consultants, with occasional exposure to executives. As a member of the Continuous Improvement department, you will display the capacity and desire for&nbsp;professional&nbsp;continuous improvement and growth. This position also requires the ability to deal with uncertainty in a changing environment, often with little or no direction. Leveraging a hypothesis-driven approach and detailed analysis, you will derive solutions that will be captured within an effective storyline. Problem and conflict resolution skills are essential, as is negotiation ability.</p> <p>As a Lean Consultant, your responsibilities will include managing deliverables, developing meaningful insights from quantitative and qualitative analyses, participating in the setting of engagement objectives and scope, developing plans relevant to your work and coordinating project activities. You will formulate both tactical and strategic recommendations for business improvement. The projects that you work on will be complex, cross-functional engagements with a variety of possible outcomes to be evaluated for effectiveness. The subject matter of projects can be very broad, from those that require in-depth data analysis, to those that address corporate structure, direction or policy. Examples include: process cost identification, future-state design, organizational re-structuring, administrative cost reduction, and process efficiency. You will also be responsible for participating in the development and delivery of succinct and insightful presentations to company leadership. The opportunity to interact with company leadership and executives will provide you with greater insight into company challenges and opportunities as well as in the larger health care and insurance industry.</p> <p><strong>Responsible for providing leadership, training and support to assigned business units to achieve "Best-in-Class" performance by eliminating waste in all operational and business processes to improve service to customers and create an environment focused on continuous improvement.</strong></p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Serve as internal subject matter expert in Lean principles and application methodology.&nbsp;</li> <li>Drive development of Lean business processes including providing recommendations focused on sustainable performance based upon organizational goals, productivity and alignments.&nbsp;</li> <li>Lead the education of company employees and leaders in Lean Enterprise principles to achieve business process improvements.&nbsp;</li> <li>Accountable for supporting business teams to identify and deliver significant and quantifiable business process improvements through the application of lean and six sigma process improvement methodologies.</li> <li>Provider expertise in analytical methodology used to facilitate data driven decision making, including the collection and monitoring of metrics used to assess, prioritize and select improvement projects.&nbsp;</li> <li>Benchmark industry best practices to measure organization position.&nbsp;</li> <li>Consult, develop and ensure compliance in the use of competitive production and performance standards.&nbsp;</li> <li>Initiate and lead problem solving efforts working closely with internal and external stakeholders.&nbsp;</li> <li>Design performance feedback systems to assess the resolution of business process deficiencies.</li> <li>Other duties may be assigned.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business or related field is required. Advanced degree preferred.</li> <li>A minimum of seven (7) years related business process analysis and improvement experience, which includes two (2) or more years facilitation/leadership experience reflecting measurable improvements and lean transformations.</li> <li>Formal training in Lean, Six Sigma or Lean Six Sigma required. Black Belt certification required.</li> <li>Two (2) or more years related Toyota Production System (TPS) experience preferred.</li> <li>Excellent organization skills and ability to effectively multi task in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.</li> <li>Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills.</li> <li>Ability to lead and facilitate cross functional team meetings.</li> <li>Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to perform this job.</li> </ul>
