Overview: Provide overall direction, guidance, definition and facilitations for the definition of an infrastructure architecture for projects required to meet business strategies and goals. Responsibilities include advocacy and support for the enterprise&rsquo;s IT strategies, identification and analysis of enterprise business drivers to derive useful business context, analysis of the current IT environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement.<br /><br /> <p>Architect interface across all business areas, acting as visionaries to proactively assist in defining the direction for future projects. They conceive strategies, solutions, build consensus, and execute solutions. They are involved in all aspects of the project life cycle, from the initial kickoff through the requirements analysis, design and implementation.</p> <p>Provide support to the consulting engineering activities including estimation, design, capacity planning and performance evaluation of relational databases including Oracle, DB2 and SQL Server. Responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li>Creation of conceptual infrastructure designs specifically for solutions heavily dependent on relational databases.</li> <li>Delivery of Technology Solution Designs including the infrastructure deployment view of how large-scale distributed applications are deployed across database landscape.</li> <li>Detailed performance analysis of applications during testing and post-production to resolve performance bottlenecks.</li> <li>Capacity forecasting and support of database engineers in capacity planning across all database environments (Oracle, IBM, MSFT, Mongo, HDP, MySQL, Postgres, etc.).</li> </ul>
Responsibilities: <p>Design, build, test, implement, maintain, and optimize the network, telecommunications, desktop, and mobility system infrastructure and operations. Monitor and optimize the performance of operating systems and applications. Diagnose system failures and take corrective action. Use strong client service orientation to ensure all requests and problems are resolved. Coordinate and work on multiple cross-functional initiatives and projects as a technical lead or advisor. Develop/build highly complex systems that may have system-wide impact, integrate across the organization, and involve multiple technical environments and disciplines.</p> Participate in short- and long-term planning efforts with stakeholders and IT groups. Develop cost/time estimates. Identify and communicate how IT solutions can support the achievement of short- and long-range business goals. Develop the prioritization of requirements and match resources with requirements. Work with business analysts, Architecture, and stakeholders to understand business needs. Lead the evaluation of technical requirements for projects to determine the impact to the infrastructure. Determine systems specifications, input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility. Assist in the business process redesign and documentation for new technology as needed. Lead, create, and collaborate with cross functional teams to develop design documents that can be implemented. Participate in technical design review of applicable projects. Develop custom integration solutions. Lead the design and implementation of security solutions. Ensure the integrity of host computers, multiple databases and secure data transfer. Direct efforts to demonstrate that information systems are compliant with appropriate corporate policies, industry standards, government regulations, and contractual requirements. Identify discrepancies resulting from security audits, develops plans for corrective actions and tracks actions to closure. Establish requirements, methods and procedures for routine maintenance. Lead or provide technical direction for the planning, designing, and execution of testing efforts. Ensure that tests evaluate all possible impacts on the current infrastructure or application. Coordinate and lead the deployment and review of new, modified or enhanced system components or services. Certify the functionality of components and services. Develop and maintain metrics around the system and institute a process for continuous improvement. Perform periodic reviews with users and vendors. Define and ensure continuous monitoring procedures are set according to the standard procedures and requirements. Coordinate problem resolution among a variety of functional areas and provide subject matter expertise support for diagnosing and resolving problem. Provide guidance to other team members. Lead the development of contingency plans including reliable backup and restore procedures. Identify business continuity/disaster recovery risks and mitigation plans. Support and establish systems environment standards. Ensure compliance with policies, procedures and standards. Work with vendors to resolve problems. Ensure that external parties are adhering to contract requirements. Evaluate vendor solutions to ensure compliance with requirements and cost-effectiveness. Develop SLAs for external relationships. Provide technical leadership, coaching and mentoring to team members. Develop reports and presentations for senior management, as needed. Provide performance feedback to managers, as needed. Recommend training programs targeting specific areas of improvement. Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements: <p><strong>EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in relevant field preferred.</li> <li>7 years of relevant IT work experience required.</li> <li>Relevant certification is required.</li> <li>Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of broad range hardware and software products.</li> </ul> <p><strong>DEPARTMENTAL PREFERENCES</strong></p> <ul> <li>Deep Infrastructure Architecture expertise of two or more of the following: Distributed Database Systems, Network, Server and Storage Virtualization and Cloud computing.</li> <li>Application Infrastructure knowledge of Performance Management, Desktop and Telephony Systems.</li> <li>Infrastructure Architecture of large-scale, enterprise-wide secure systems like SOA, Web Portals, J2EE, Web/Web2.0, EAI, SharePoint, Cloud and Client Server technologies.</li> <li>Conduct Non-functional review of business requirements and produce system availability, scalability and maintain technical requirements for build/design.</li> <li>Knowledgeable about matters surrounding integration and communication among applications, databases and technology platforms.</li> <li>Experience in performing capacity planning, performance and life cycle management on infrastructure and application services.</li> <li>Initiative to persuade, inspire, motivate and influence a broad audience, in addition the ability to make quality decisions with a high level of stakeholder buy-in.</li> <li>Prior experience consulting on planning, migration and implementation issues for information technologies and related architectural concepts.</li> <li>Understanding of emerging technologies.</li> <li>Extensive knowledge of the existing and planned software technology and played a prior lead role in software standards establishment and major platform changes.</li> </ul> <p><strong>OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES</strong></p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of major products and services and product and service groups.</li> <li>Ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.</li> <li>Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing environments.</li> <li>Written and verbal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with system users and other technical colleagues.</li> <li>Ability to work independently or within a team environment.</li> <li>Analytical thinking skills.</li> </ul>
