Overview: <p>This position is responsible for monitoring the Company&rsquo;s compliance with tax laws and regulations.&nbsp; Manages the timely completion and filing of the consolidated Federal tax provision, Federal consolidated tax return, State income, and indirect tax returns.&nbsp; Informs all levels of management on new tax laws, tax updates, and their potential impact.&nbsp; Coordinates corporate tax audits.&nbsp; Recommends and implements methods and procedures to minimize tax liability or promote tax savings.&nbsp; Manages the activities and functions of an area or section including but not limited to planning, organization, problem-solving, staff development, and communication.&nbsp; Close interaction with personnel and management within or outside the department in performing duties and assignments.&nbsp; Performs other functions as assigned by management.</p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Monitors the company&rsquo;s compliance with tax laws and regulations.&nbsp;</li> <li>Has overall responsibility for completing consolidated Federal tax provision (ASC 740), consolidated Federal tax return, State income tax returns, indirect tax returns (including, but not limited to, Sales and Use Tax, Michigan&nbsp;Insurance Provider Assessment, Michigan Premium Tax) and other related tax issues and matters.&nbsp;</li> <li>Provides support to various departments concerning W-2 and 1099 forms, and other tax-related matters.&nbsp;</li> <li>Performs monthly/quarterly accounting duties such as account reconciliations and journal entries. Represents the Tax Department as a Subject Matter Expert in Affordable Care Act reporting. Partners with subsidiaries in managing tax-related issues.&nbsp;</li> <li>Identify tax saving ideas while minimizing exposure to the Company.&nbsp;</li> <li>Reviews tax legislation and regulatory notices and informs management about changes and tax impacts.</li> <li>Manages information flow between departments that provide information for tax compliance to ensure useful and efficient data is exchanged in timely manner.&nbsp;</li> <li>Develops, recommends, and maintains administrative and operational procedures of the section or area.&nbsp;</li> <li>Identifies problems with work processes or workflow, and coordinates appropriate resolution with management.&nbsp;</li> <li>Coordinates or executes ad hoc requests and other tax-specific requirements.&nbsp;</li> <li>Plans, monitors and manages the work or functions of tax auditors.&nbsp;</li> <li>Leads or works closely with teams to complete assigned projects.&nbsp;</li> <li>Assists management in planning and carrying out department and divisional goals.&nbsp;</li> <li>Performs other assignments or functions as required by management.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in Accounting, Finance or related field required.</li> <li>Advanced Technical Degree (MST, JD, MBA-Tax) preferred.</li> <li>Four (4) to six (6) years experience in a corporate tax environment where tax research, ASC 740 and tax compliance are a regular part of the job function.</li> <li>At least two years experience of corporate taxation in a health care industry preferred</li> <li>At least two years experience of Statutory financial reporting preferred</li> <li>Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification preferred.1.Knowledge of federal, state, local, and corporate and partnership tax laws.</li> <li>Proficient with Thomson Reuters OneSource Tax Provision &amp; Return software.</li> <li>Ability to work under little or no supervision or in a team environment and with multiple priorities and certain deadlines.</li> <li>Proficient in current industry standard PC applications and systems (e.g., Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Experience with Access is helpful.</li> <li>Excellent analytical, organizational, planning, problem solving skills.</li> <li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills.</li> <li>Ability to communicate with all levels of management.</li> <li>Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to perform this job.</li> </ul> <div id="gtx-trans" style="position: absolute; left: -184px; top: -20.0139px;">&nbsp;</div>
