Overview: The Legal Operations Director oversees the day-to-day administrative and management functions of the Office of General Counsel. The Director will be responsible for driving the performance of the department by researching, developing and implementing operational best practices across a wide-range of areas
Responsibilities: <ul><li>Prepares and monitors annual budget, as well as long-term fiscal plans for the department; directs the development, implementation and adherence to budgets and systems to achieve operating and financial objectives. Establishes financial controls and guidelines which optimize cost effectiveness and profitability. Studies and recommends measures in performance against budget. Responsible for forecasting and preparing accrual information for Finance and for maintenance of historic financial information and day-to-day interaction with finance business partners.</li><li>Develops onboarding and training manuals for Department, as needed, and develops, updates and implements all departmental policies.</li><li>Works with Information Technology to direct the evaluation and enhancement of existing and future computer, photocopy, and telecommunications systems and equipment. Oversees the formulation and implementation of disaster preparedness policy. Develops technology roadmaps and manages department technology resources.</li><li>Responsible for managing all departmental vendor relations including overseeing vendor rates, billing and compliance with company and departmental polices. Develop and implement assessment tools, identify and address vendor relationship issues and develop strategies for leveraging and maintaining solid vendor relations.</li><li>Develops and implements best in class billing guidelines, strategies for efficient use of outside counsel and performance management tools for outside counsel. Manages contract and budget issues with outside counsel.</li><li>Oversees the day-to-day department operations including floor space and equipment management. Participates in strategic planning for the department, including development of goals and metrics to measure goals, as well as method and manner of communicating performance of department across organization. Also responsible for diversity compliance, reporting and divisional meetings.</li><li>Responsible for knowledge management functions, developing and overseeing systems and technology for efficiently storing and sharing written materials.</li><li>Performs other duties as necessary. </li></ul>
Requirements: <ul><li>Bachelor’s degree required. Master of Business Administration preferred. </li><li>Minimum of 8 years’ experience in management and administration in a professional services firm environment, with law firm experience preferred. </li><li>Strong financial skills required, with a CPA preferred. </li><li>Ability to structure and process qualitative and quantitative data insights and use conclusions for Departmental Strategies. </li><li>Ability to organize, schedule, and budget in an efficient and productive manner that keeps the big picture in clear view. </li><li>Ability to manage support staff and delegate as necessary, maintaining good interpersonal relations and communications with lawyers and support staff, and helping to cultivate the Department’s culture. Excellent problem-solver and team player. </li><li>Must work effectively with other motivated professionals in a challenging, fast-paced environment. </li></ul>
