Overview: <strong>Director Level Position<br /><br />Responsible to identify, prioritize and develop strategies to support Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan&rsquo;s (BCBSM) competitive position, achieve positive business results, and improve the health and wellbeing of our members. Able to independently develop frameworks and hypotheses to address strategic questions, and lead teams to make recommendations on consequential matters with long-term implications for the organization, including: setting enterprise aspirations and targets, developing enterprise-level strategies, assessing strategic investments and partnerships, and evaluating the enterprise&rsquo;s overall portfolio of assets.</strong>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Develop and manage multiple strategic projects, initiatives, work plans and key project milestones. Track progress to goal, identify issues and develop solutions to reach strategic objectives.</li> <li>Translate strategic questions into hypothesis-driven solution and structure supporting analyses. Oversee the development of financial models and analyses to support the creation of strategies and plans. Develop quantitative analyses and models, as well as the underlying data required, to inform strategies.</li> <li>Utilize scenario planning models to make data-driven decisions. Highlight key risks and areas of uncertainty to minimize exposure to error.</li> <li>Utilize primary and secondary research to assist in identifying best practices and opportunities for the corporation.</li> <li>Create executive level PowerPoint presentations and correspondence to communicate recommendations to executive leadership and the Board of Directors</li> <li>Lead teams of strategists and business leaders.</li> <li>May be assigned one or more areas of specialization:</li> </ul> <p><strong><u>Enterprise Innovation:</u></strong></p> <ul> <li>Lead innovation mission teams to define and execute against high-priority initiatives directly aligned to Blue Cross&rsquo; enterprise strategy</li> <li>Play an active role to define and refine the Enterprise Innovation Agenda</li> <li>Support the development and socialization of innovation tools, processes, and resources to other parts of the organization</li> <li>Establish and manage processes to keep a pulse on innovations across the healthcare industry and translate identified opportunities into Blue Cross&rsquo; Innovation Agenda.</li> <li>Coordinate with business unit and functional area leadership to evaluate innovation priorities and align on cross-enterprise opportunities for collaboration to other parts of the organization.</li> </ul> <p><strong><u>Enterprise Strategy</u></strong></p> <ul> <li>Provide solutions to complex business problems and make recommendations to senior management to improve strategic initiatives and technical processes.</li> <li>Lead and convene colleagues and subject matter experts in a collaborative environment to evaluate the impact of significant market events, emerging trends, and new strategies.</li> <li>Support ad hoc analyses requested by the CEO or other senior leaders.</li> <li>Coordinate with business unit and financial leadership to evaluate the overall portfolio of enterprise assets to determine if the enterprise is well-positioned to achieve its strategic aspirations, evaluate new business opportunities, and optimally allocate resources.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in Strategy, Health Policy, Business or related field required. Master&rsquo;s Degree in related field preferred.</li> <li>Seven (7) years of experience in corporate strategy, consulting, investment banking or related experience is required.</li> <li>Previous experience leading projects and/or teams is preferred.&nbsp;</li> <li>Previous experience working in the healthcare industry is preferred.&nbsp;</li> <li>Advanced quantitative and financial analysis/modeling capabilities, leveraging Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, and PowerPoint), with an affinity to detail.</li> <li>Advanced oral communication and presentation skills.</li> <li>Strong strategic orientation with ability to develop plans and deliver expected results.</li> <li>Ability to manage multiple priority initiatives concurrently.</li> <li>Expert analytical and problem-solving skills.</li> <li>Advanced written communication skills, including story telling.</li> <li>Ability to work independently and lead others&rsquo; work within a team environment with multiple priorities.</li> <li>Ability to effective interface with management at all levels and external contacts.</li> </ul>
