Overview: Involved in advanced analytics in support of conceptualization, design and evaluation of BCBSM clinical programs, such as the largest Patient-Centered-Medical Home initiative in the nation and numerous pay-for-performance initiatives.
Responsibilities: <ul> <li><span style="font-size: small;">Design and implement epidemiologic studies to understand disease burden in BCBSM insured population and health care services being utilized for disease diagnosis and treatment.&nbsp; Monitor/mentor multiple projects simultaneously be ensuring appropriate epidemiologic study designs and statistic methods are adopted.&nbsp;</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: small;">Drive the continuous method improvement in department analytic work.&nbsp;</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: small;">Identify and resolve challenges in order to fulfill key corporate objectives and respond to the demand of change management and initiate actions needed to plan, organize and control team activities.&nbsp;</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: small;">Assist in the planning and implementation of clinical programs to prevent and control diseases and to improve quality and efficiency of care delivered to BCBSM insured population.&nbsp;</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: small;">Design and implement epidemiologic studies to evaluate the effectiveness of clinical programs.&nbsp; Prepare presentations and technical reports in a clear and concise manner to communicate finding from epidemiologic studies to management, providers and other interested parties.&nbsp; Disseminate research results through presentations to scientific and professional groups and through publications in scientific and professional journals.&nbsp;</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: small;">Provides consultation to Michigan providers, physician organization and other interested groups.&nbsp; Act as liaison between corporate business areas and participates in group or committee discussion.&nbsp;</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: small;">Other duties may be assigned.</span></li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li><span style="font-size: small;">Master's Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Administration or other related field. Doctoral degrees (PhD or Dr.PH) in related field preferred.</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: small;">At least two (2) years experience in Epidemiology or related field</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: small;">Knowledge of complex epidemiologic and surveillance methods</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: small;">Knowledge of current concepts of population health management, program evaluation and needs assessment</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: small;">Knowledge of health insurance and health care industry in general, more specific about BCBSM business, products and programs.</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: small;">Strong Analytical skills (i.e. statistical methods, business process metrics, outcomes measurement, process modeling, quality assessment, etc.)</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: small;">Excellent verbal and written skills to communicate complex ideas.</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: small;">Strong working knowledge of data languages such as SAS or SQL.</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: small;">Ability to work independently, within a team environment and communicate effectively with employees at all levels.</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: small;">Solid working knowledge of reporting tools and software: Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word and Visio, as well as Statistical software (SAS preferred)</span></li> </ul>
