Overview: BCBSM is seeking a Principal Network Architect to join our Technology Strategy &amp; Planning team. This position is focused on the domain of Networking and Security Architecture, Architecting modern networks across the enterprise and enabling cloud-based solutions with appropriate networking and security architectures and designs.
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Lead all aspects of architectural vision and strategy development, including environmental analysis, opportunity identification, value cases and technology innovation portfolio development.</li> <li>Guide other architects and IT leaders in the communications and implementation of roadmaps. Ensures that the architectural strategy is aligned with business goals.</li> <li>Define principles that guide technology decisions and the relationship between enterprise business context (industry and market trends) and specified technology.</li> <li>Apply a system-wide view when working with product, platform, and/or service owners and business leaders, when needed, to understand business requirements and help them understand how technology trade-offs influence strategy.</li> <li>Work with business peers to develop and present business capability models and roadmaps to facilitate discussion and decision making with stakeholders across the enterprise.</li> <li>Create, modify, and approve logical designs and architectures by reviewing end-user topology, security, performance, and interoperability requirements.</li> <li>Lead the evaluation and selection of software product standards, as well as the design of standard software configurations. Guide the design of enterprise-wide initiatives to integrate systems.</li> <li>Lead post-implementation continuous-improvement efforts to enhance performance and provide increased functionality.</li> <li>Lead architectural collaboration with other IT teams in the management of technical change, verification of testing results, and monitoring of technical standards compliance and deployment.</li> <li>Develop, motivate, and mentor IT members to create a team environment. Coach and mentor team members.</li> <li>Consult on application or infrastructure development projects to fit systems or infrastructure to the technical architecture and identify when or if it is necessary to modify the technical/solution architecture to accommodate project needs.</li> <li>Evaluate and advise on options, risks, costs versus benefits, system impacts, and technology priorities in highly complex situations. Advise, collaborate with, and lead product and delivery management on reporting status, issues, risks, and benefits.</li> <li>Direct the research and evaluation of emerging technology, industry, and market trends. Confirm technology recommendations are based on business relevance, appropriate timing, and deployment complexity, and makes final recommendation.</li> <li>Collaborate in the creation of governing principles to guide architectural governance decision making. Lead and facilitate architecture governance processes and meetings, and hold governance roles, based on architecture&rsquo;s governance mechanisms.</li> <li>Lead teams in developing plans, assessing improvement options and ongoing quality activities across the enterprise.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>Enterprise</strong></p> <ul> <li>Provide overall direction, guidance, and definition of technology architecture to effectively support business strategy. Lead the development and implementation of the Automation Strategy.</li> <li>Develop the solutions viewpoint, in which the business, information and technology viewpoints are synthesized into solutions that deliver capabilities to the enterprise.</li> <li>Lead analysis of technology industry and market trends to determine their potential impact on the enterprise architecture.</li> <li>Develop, review, and lead the implementation plan for the enterprise architecture based on business requirements and IT strategies.</li> <li>Ensure the integration of all aspects of architecture across each domain and type (solution, technology, information, process) and alignment with business strategies, objectives and capability needs.</li> <li>Lead and develop the business, information and technical artifacts that constitute the enterprise information security architecture and solutions.</li> <li>Manage relationships with business teams using cloud to plan for upcoming requirements, and continuously communicates with and involves key staff in the maintenance and growth of the security architecture.</li> <li>Create and maintain the strategy and architecture for ensuring security in the cloud.</li> <li>Select and position security capabilities in distinct types of cloud deployments and puts all component security capabilities together for best effect</li> <li>Ensure application platforms are secured, which includes creating and implementing secure coding and configuration standards.</li> <li>Communicate security risks and solutions to IT staff and executives.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Solution-Technical</strong></p> <ul> <li>Ensure the establishment of a technical architecture needed to generate sustained, differentiating value for the business.</li> <li>Accountable for the technical architecture components of the intentional architecture that defines the principles, guidelines, and standards to ensure technical decisions are aligned with the enterprise&rsquo;s future state architecture vision.</li> <li>Analyze current technology environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in related field required. Master&rsquo;s degree in related field preferred.</li> <li>Ten (10) years of experience in IT and business/industry (architecture design and deployment, systems lifecycle management, infrastructure planning and operations, etc.) with five (5) years of technical leadership and relevant architecture experience (information solutions, business, technology, etc.) required.</li> <li>Exposure to multiple diverse technologies and processing environments required.</li> <li>Extensive self-motivation and risk-taking abilities.</li> <li>Extensive experience in decision making and critical and strategic thinking. Ability to analyze situations, reach productive decisions and maintain focus on key success factors.</li> <li>Extensive experience with client relationship management to determine and satisfy client needs and maintain a partnering relationship through communicating, presenting, facilitating, managing and developing others.</li> <li>Ability to develop and integrate new ideas and initiatives that improve the performance of the organization.</li> <li>Ability to drive consensus on complex matters involving diverse stakeholders where there may be varying points of view.</li> <li>Knowledge of all components of a holistic architecture.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>Departmental Requirements:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience with developing network and security strategies, roadmaps and architecture models aligned with business and technology strategies and outcomes based on sound enterprise architecture practices</li> <li>Experience with developing network and security architecture artifacts (architecture models, guiding principles, patterns, standards and related taxonomy)</li> <li>Full-stack knowledge and experience of IT infrastructure including on-premises and cloud platforms with experience migrating to the cloud</li> <li>Experience with vendors and technologies including but not limited to Cisco, Checkpoint, Genesys, Zscaler, ZTNA, MPLS, DIA, VPN, VLAN, IPSec, SDWAN, VoIP, Wi-Fi, Cellular, Broadband and more</li> <li>Minimum 10 years of experience with roles aligning to Network Infrastructure Architecture and Engineering</li> <li>Experience with industry regulations, standards, and frameworks (HIPAA, HITRUST, ISO, NIST, PCI, OSI etc.)</li> <li>Experience in Healthcare Industry would be an added advantage</li> <li>Suitable network and security certifications preferred</li> </ul>
