Overview: <p>We are hiring for a<strong>&nbsp;Business Analytics Analyst&nbsp;</strong>in&nbsp;our Analytics Center of Excellence (ACoE) &ndash; the power hub of analytics for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.&nbsp;</p> <p>This is a great opportunity to make a unique but powerful impact using your exploratory analysis skills and expertise in statistical methods to determine what types of programs should be pursued, to solve problems and/or capitalize on new opportunities.&nbsp; &nbsp;<br /><br /><em><strong>Please Note:&nbsp;Hybrid</strong>&nbsp;work structure, which requires working minimum 1-day per week on-site at our downtown Detroit office (we provide Free parking that is within a covered structure connected directly to our building).</em></p>
Responsibilities: <p>As a<strong>&nbsp;Business Analytics Analyst</strong>,<strong>&nbsp;</strong>you will help develop hypotheses and data analysis plans to determine the best approach for conducting descriptive analytics, create savings models, evaluate program outcomes, and size potential opportunities.</p> <ul> <li>Translate business ideas into testable hypotheses with guidance.</li> <li>Contribute to statistical analyses and data visualizations based on the broader analysis plan.</li> <li>Explore and interpret data patterns to evaluate program and business hypotheses.</li> <li>Query and manipulate both structured and unstructured data to support analysis.</li> <li>Help distill analytical findings into actionable insights for business decision-making.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Economics, Actuarial Science, Informatics, Epidemiology, Biostatics, Data Science, or other related field is required. Master&rsquo;s degree or PhD in related field is preferred.</li> <li>A&nbsp;<strong>minimum of</strong>&nbsp;<strong>one (1) year of related work experience</strong>.</li> <li>Previous experience programming (at least one language) is required.</li> <li>Previous experience working in the healthcare industry is preferred.</li> <li>Basic knowledge of how health care claims are billed and how the health system works is a plus.</li> <li>Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.</li> <li>Basic knowledge about different evaluation study designs (i.e., case-control, cohort), methodologies for controlling for population differences in studies (i.e., regression analysis, propensity score matching), and programming (SQL, SAS, R or Python)</li> <li>Basic knowledge of statistical testing techniques (i.e. ANOVA t-tests, chi-squared, etc.).</li> <li>Intermediate skills in Microsoft Access, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.</li> <li>Ability to effectively interface and present to management at all levels of the organization.</li> <li>Ability to work independently and in a team environment.</li> </ul>
