Overview: <p>Serve as a liaison between the business areas and the IT organization to provide technical solutions required for the achievement of business goals. Collect, analyze, develop, document, and communicate business requirement. Support several moderately complex business processes within one or more business functions.<br /><br />The Business Analyst will be responsible for system testing and will develop / execute test plans in Excel to ensure the integrity of changes made to custom applications and reports by developers.&nbsp; To be successful in this role, a candidate will be able to build trusting relationships with business partners, understand their processes, translate wants to needs, and collaborate on consumption of results.&nbsp; Partners will range from peers to executives.&nbsp; Ideal candidate is someone who enjoys variety and is comfortable working on different types of tasks simultaneously.&nbsp;<br /><br /></p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Conduct data gathering and analysis to understand business strategy requirements.&nbsp; Provide direction for short and long-term planning sessions and provide direction to ensure understanding of business goals and direction. Provide input from a business and IT perspective.</li> <li>Assess client needs utilizing a structured requirements process (gathering, analyzing, documenting, and managing changes) to assist in identifying business priorities and advice on options.</li> <li>Develop, write, and communicate business requirements and functional specifications for the implementation of business solutions.&nbsp;</li> <li>Analyze customer&rsquo;s operations to understand their strengths and weaknesses to determine opportunities for improvements.</li> <li>Assist in the business process redesign and documentation as needed for new technology. Provide factual content to feasibility study for standard development projects and enhancements and assistance in business case development (i.e., research, data collection), as needed. Develop user test cases and system integration testing and validate test results during testing.&nbsp; Review and approve test plans and monitor testing process to ensure that business results are adequately tested with minimal risk, as needed.</li> <li>Investigate, resolve and escalate problems.&nbsp; Procure technical assistance to help in problem resolution.</li> <li>Keep customers informed of problems, issues, and status.&nbsp; Analyze performance metrics to ensure customer satisfaction.&nbsp; Manage customers&rsquo; expectation.</li> <li>Coach and transfer knowledge to less experienced team members.</li> <li>Other duties may be assigned.</li> </ul> <p>Analytical responsibilities include the compilation, interpretation, and presentation of trends/patterns in complex data sets from multiple sources using a variety of mediums.&nbsp; Efforts will primarily be spent consuming data from flat files, relational databases, and an OLAP Cube bound to Excel, as well as compiling disparate data sources yet to be centralized.&nbsp; Candidate will automate manual reports into re-usable Excel prototypes leveraging existing data connections, as well as collaboration with technical staff for long-term solutions.&nbsp; Statistical methods will be utilized to support proposal of useful business metrics / reports.&nbsp;&nbsp; Candidate will have the ability to operate within the constraints of an environment, leveraging available tools to achieve results, while simultaneously providing recommendations for new methods and tools.</p> <p>Responsibilities for this position will approximately be distributed as:<br />40% testing&nbsp;<br /> 40% analysis<br /> 20% requirements / design</p>
Requirements: <p><strong>EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.</li> <li>Three (3) year of relevant technical or business work experience required.</li> <li>Minimum 3 to 5 years of overall experience</li> <li>3 to 5 years system test plan development / execution</li> <li>3 to 5 years advanced Excel-based analytics</li> <li>1 to 3 years reporting requirements / design / development / prototyping</li> <li>Understanding of all phases of the development lifecycle</li> <li>Highly analytical with excellent problem solving capabilities</li> <li>High attention to detail</li> <li>Excellent organization and communication skills</li> <li>Ability to work independently on multiple assignments with minimal supervision</li> </ul> <p><strong>DEPARTMENTAL PREFERENCES</strong></p> <ul> <li>Low to medium complexity T-SQL queries, or equivalent</li> <li>Microsoft Power BI / PowerPivot / PowerView</li> <li>Report development using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), or equivalent</li> <li>SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), or equivalent</li> </ul> <p><strong>OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES</strong></p> <ul> <li>Basic knowledge of business operations and systems requirement processes.</li> <li>Demonstrated technical, analytical, systems skills.</li> <li>Display innovation in identifying, proposing, and overseeing the execution of business solutions.</li> <li>Written and verbal communication skills interpersonal skills.</li> <li>Ability to work independently, or within a team environment.</li> <li>Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to perform this job.</li> </ul> <p><em>All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to, among other grounds, race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, gender identity, protected veteran status or status as an individual with a disability.</em></p>
