Account Manager

Competitive Total Compensation Package

Overview: <p>Develop and implement new business, servicing and retention strategies related to increased penetration in Trust Fund accounts in support of BCBSM and BCN corporate marketing sales goals and objectives. Develop and implement long and short range strategies and account plans, conduct account rate renewal activities and interface with internal departments to ensure that account issues and concerns are properly addressed to the mutual satisfaction of both the account and the corporation.</p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Lead, formulate and implement long and short range strategies, account plans and resource deployments in support of territory initiatives and the sales and retention premium goals.</li> <li>Develop, implement and maintain effective and efficient face-to-face contact with account decision-makers.</li> <li>Develop specific retention strategy to identify and recognize individual customer characteristics, understand the decision-making process and gain trust from all labor, management, decision makers as well as customer influences (attorney, consultants, agents, etc.).</li> <li>Provide the customer with information related to alternative methods of healthcare delivery (e.g., HMO, PPO, and Traditional) which includes financial alternatives such as funding options.</li> <li>Explore possible jeopardy situations and develop sales and service strategies to retain the group.</li> <li>Implement and maintain an effective proactive resell process. Utilize the resell process to coordinate the acceptance of renewals and settlements including the acquisition of information to complete necessary reporting.</li> <li>Develop annual forecast and sales plans to strategize and identify unenrolled segments and prospective customers as appropriate to territory, group size and geographic location.</li> <li>Coordinate account, employee meetings and attend local union meeting as necessary, collection of information required by accounts, in order to make informed positive purchase decisions.</li> <li>Coordinate and prepare any required formal reporting to all management levels in both BCBSM and BCN.</li> <li>Coordinate and assist in the education and training of group contact personnel and members in an assigned territory on BCBSM and/or BCN benefit programs.</li> <li>Attend selected Labor sponsored function to develop and enhance relationships with key labor personnel.</li> <li>Participate in various forms of community relations to support positive corporate and marketing images.</li> <li>Perform other related duties as assigned.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>High school graduate or GED equivalent is required.</li> <li>Bachelor's Degree preferred. Discipline in Business Administration, Marketing or related field preferred.</li> <li>Five (5) years of concept sales or risk management experience or experience in a leadership role in a corporate operational area. Concept sales are defined as selling an idea, process, system, technology and/or approach.</li> <li>High degree of technical knowledge of all benefits, billing, competitive programs, methods, policies, procedures, rating, regulations, selling process and underwriting as it relates to sales and marketing.</li> <li>Knowledge of and experience with government programs, union structures, alternative benefit delivery programs, trust fund structure, medical economics and corporate philosophy.</li> <li>Experience in working directly with large group customers over 1,000+ contract.</li> <li>Experience in the design and implementation of non-standard benefits through plan modifications and/or system changes.</li> <li>Experience or knowledge of NASCO FlexLink and/or other shared administration arrangement processes. Valid and unrestricted driver's license is required. If an employee is selling/negotiating a rate as part of the duties and responsibilities of this job, the following licenses are required within 90 days of the employee's start date or the license expiration date.</li> <li>Valid Michigan Accident and Health Insurance License</li> <li>Valid and unrestricted driver's license is required. State of Michigan Licensed Producer in accident and health required, including life preferred. BCBSM requires all account managers who sell and/or negotiate insurance be a licensed producer. In addition, the account manager must be continually licensed to qualify for this position.</li> <li>Excellent analytical, problem resolution, verbal and written communication skills required.</li> <li>Well-developed forecasting, organizing, planning, scheduling and communication inside and outside the Corporation.</li> <li>Ability to understand the interdependence, structure and operations of internal departments.</li> <li>Proficient in current industry standard PC applications and systems.</li> <li>Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.</li> <li>Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to perform this job.</li> </ul> <p><em>All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to, among other grounds, race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, gender identity, protected veteran status or status as an individual with a disability.</em></p>
