Competitive Total Compensation Package

Overview: <p>Develops and implements accounting policies and operations of accounting systems, budgeting and financial report preparation. Prepares financial statements that meet standard accounting principles (GAAP and Statutory) as well as state and federal regulations. Oversees, monitors and works to improve accounting procedures, internal controls and information technology management to ensure financial statements corporate standards and industry best practices.</p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Build influential partnerships with clients to assist the Controller in producing accurate, timely, industry compliant, effective financial reporting and accounting policies and procedures such as: year end GAAP &amp; SAP audited financial statements, month end closing, general ledger, account analysis, reconciliations.</li> <li>Develop accounting documentation, policies and procedures and ensure compliance with internal controls, oversight and remediation of audit related findings (internal, external, regulator) and assist in preparing yearly audit.</li> <li>Develop recommendations regarding anticipated changes for the accounting strategy of the business and manage key initiatives related to accounting and financial reporting process improvements such as accounting system implementations, upgrades, development of a Statutory General Ledger in PeopleSoft.</li> <li>Ensure senior leadership awareness regarding changes to business strategy/processes and their impact on financial and operational results.</li> <li>Oversee the development of new and revised accounting processes for new lines of business.</li> <li>Develop accounting treatment and conduct due diligence on potential opportunities for acquisition or joint ventures.</li> <li>Create the opportunity for employee growth and development by building a talent management plan.</li> <li>Remain current on changes in regulations and other industry news.</li> <li>Perform other duties as necessary.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong>EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree in Accounting or Finance or related field required Master&rsquo;s Degree preferred.</li> <li>Ten (10) or more years of experience in Finance or related field required.</li> <li>Three (3) to Five (5) years of managerial experience with demonstrated leadership ability required.</li> <li>Two (2)&nbsp;years experience in healthcare and/or insurance plan experience preferred.</li> <li>Significant knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP).</li> <li>Significant knowledge of financial transactions flow and their financial statements impact.</li> </ul> <p><strong>OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Ability to work effectively in team environment and with multiple priorities and certain deadlines.</li> <li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills.</li> <li>Excellent problem solving, interpersonal, and organization skills.</li> <li>Proficient in current industry standard PC applications and systems (e.g., Word, Excel and PowerPoint).</li> <li>Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to perform this job.</li> </ul> <p><strong>CERTIFICATES, LICENSES:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Certification CPA required, (CMA, CFM) preferred.</li> </ul> <p><strong>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong></p> <p>Manages several subordinate managers who may supervise several employees in the assigned area(s).&nbsp; Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the unit(s).&nbsp; Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.&nbsp; Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees planning, assigning, and directing work appraising performance rewarding and disciplining employees addressing complaints and resolving problems.</p> <p><strong>DEPARTMENT REQUIREMENTS:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Expertise in Cost Management in large organizations</li> <li>Experience in Cost Benchmarking and in Cost reporting</li> <li>Ability to understand Cost drivers and appropriate allocation methodologies</li> <li>Experience of Cost Targeting and delivering cost reduction initiatives</li> <li>Experience of Staff Groups or Overhead Transformation initiatives</li> </ul> <p><em>All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to, among other grounds, race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, protected veteran status or status as an individual with a disability.</em></p>
