Overview: The Finance Manager (Business Partner) at Blue Cross will be the central point of finance contact for BCBSM's Operational Areas (Claims/Enrollment/Billing, Service Ops and HR). This role is responsible for leading the financial planning, analysis and reporting of Operational Areas' performance and partners with senior management team to optimize the efficient and effective utilization of budgeted resources. This role must demonstrate strong leadership and collaborative skills within a cross functional environment to ensure strategic alignment of enterprise wide initiatives. As an advocate for the Operational Areas, this role must provide timely analysis on business cases and tactfully challenge assumptions as necessary. The ideal candidate must be self-directed, results oriented and focus on continuous process improvement. In addition, this role must drive adherence to all corporate finance policies, processes and procedures to ensure compliance with internal controls, general accepted accounting principles and regulatory statutes.
Responsibilities: <div> <ul> <li>Analyze data to identify opportunities for cost reduction, increased efficiency, and alignment across functions and broader enterprise strategies.&nbsp;</li> <li>Assist&nbsp;clients in the development and implementation of business strategy goals P&nbsp;and L targets and forecast business needs.&nbsp;</li> <li>Leverage knowledge of&nbsp;the BCBSM business model and key business processes that impact the client to help drive financial strategy.&nbsp;</li> <li>Assist in the development of metrics related to new and revised processes for functional areas and segment financial performance; using the data&nbsp;to make recommendations for improvement.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</li> <li>Evaluate cost structures and process flows for a designated&nbsp;client to reduce costs and increase efficiencies.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</li> <li>Educate client on company/industry economic and&nbsp;revenue drivers, research and make recommendations for innovation, and anticipate changes in the financial strategy of the business.&nbsp;</li> <li>Evaluate client's administrative spending against external benchmarks and provide recommendations based on best practices.&nbsp;</li> <li>Provide data analysis and interpretation to assist in the development of client's financial business plan to ensure adherence to budget requirements and corporate&nbsp;capital plan.&nbsp;</li> <li>Provide project/program accounting support.&nbsp;</li> <li>Analyze vendor&nbsp;relationships to ensure accruals are accurate and provide support for re-bids as required.&nbsp;</li> <li>Prepare various financial reports to help drive financial strategy and business unit performance.&nbsp;</li> <li>Other duties may be assigned.</li> </ul> </div> <br /> <div><strong>Supervisor Responsibilities</strong></div> <div> <div> <div>Manages departmental subordinate supervisors who supervise departmental employees as shown on the organizational chart.&nbsp; Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit.&nbsp; Also directly supervises departmental non-supervisory employees.&nbsp; Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.&nbsp; Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.</div> </div> </div>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance or related field required; Master's Degree preferred.</li> <li>Seven (7) to ten (10) years experience in Finance or related field required.</li> <li>One (1) to three (3) years demonstrated leadership ability required.</li> <li>Three (3) to five (5) years of healthcare and/or insurance plan experience preferred.</li> <li>Ability to work effectively in team environment and with multiple priorities and certain deadlines.</li> <li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills.</li> <li>Excellent problem solving, interpersonal, and organization skills.</li> <li>Proficient in current industry standard PC applications and systems (e.g., Word, Excel and PowerPoint).</li> <li>Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to perform this job.</li> <li>Certification (CPA, CMA, CFM) preferred.</li> </ul> <div> <div> <div> <div><em>All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to, among other grounds, race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, protected veteran status or status as an individual with a disability</em></div> </div> </div> </div>
