Overview: The senior strategist serves as an integral member of the Corporate Strategy team and will work on projects with long-term implications for the organization, including: setting enterprise priorities, develop enterprise-level strategies, and assessing strategic investments and partnerships.
Responsibilities: <ul><li>Manage multiple strategic projects and initiatives. Develops work plans and key project milestones. Tracks progress to goal. Identifies issues and works to craft solutions to reach strategic objectives.</li><li>Considers market trends and changes, identify, prioritize and develop strategies to enable the future state of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Blue Care Network and its subsidiaries.</li><li>Provides strategy expertise to the organization. Contributes to overall corporate strategy by providing insight and innovative problem solving.</li><li>Oversee the development of financial models and analyses to support the creation of strategies and plans. Utilizes scenario planning models in order to make data-driven decisions. Highlights key risks and areas of uncertainty to minimize exposure to significant error.</li><li>Act as a thought partner to enterprise leadership in the development and prioritization of long-term strategies.</li><li>Translate strategic questions into a hypothesis-driven solution.</li><li>Develop quantitative analyses and models, as well as the underlying data required, to inform strategies.</li><li>Structure strategic and analytical documents into actionable plans for the organization</li><li>Provide solutions to complex business problems and make recommendations to senior management to improve strategic initiatives and technical processes.</li><li>Maintain knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures in related field.</li><li>Assist executive leadership in developing and approving annual goals and ensure corporate standards are consistently met.</li><li>Utilize primary and secondary research to assist in identifying best practices and opportunities for the corporation.</li><li>Create executive level PowerPoint presentations and correspondence to communicate recommendations to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.</li><li>Convene colleagues and SMEs to foster a collaborative environment to stay informed on changes in the healthcare payer and broader healthcare industries that may impact enterprise strategies. </li></ul>
Requirements: <ul><li>Bachelor's Degree in Health Policy, Business or related field required. Master’s Degree in related field strongly preferred. </li><li>Five (5) years of experience in management consulting, finance, investment banking or corporate strategy. </li><li>Five (5) years leadership experience preferred. </li><li>Previous experience at a highly complex organization or within the healthcare industry preferred. </li><li>Excellent analytical skills and financial modeling capabilities using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint), with attention to detail. </li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills. </li><li>Interfaces effectively with all levels within the organization. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to lead others in strategy roles that have direct reporting or information relationships. </li><li>Ability to lead structured problem solving with limited direction in addition to advanced critical thinking skills demonstrated through problem solving for complex business problems. </li><li>Ability to work independently within a team environment. </li></ul>
