Overview: <p>Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan&rsquo;s Strategy and Performance Management team is seeking to add an Analyst to its existing team that is responsible for supporting the various strategic focuses of the department, including: Strategic Business Planning, Capital Allocation and Project Management, Corporate Strategy Development, Competitor and Market Analysis, and Performance Management.&nbsp; This key role will provide support in the planning, design, evaluation and monitoring of enterprise, segment, and functional strategic projects, initiatives and performance that support BCBSM&rsquo;s competitive position, achieve positive business results and improve the health of our customers and our enterprise.</p> <p>As part of the team you will engage on various projects with different areas of strategic focuses of the department. The Analyst will gain exposure to different parts of the BCBSM enterprise while spending the majority of your time conducting research, developing and evaluating business plans, performing analyses, modeling scenarios, and creating presentations for executive and Board level audiences. The Analyst will gain both broad industry and enterprise exposure as well as deep expertise in select business areas. The Strategy and Performance Management Analyst role requires close collaboration with various stakeholders in the business and within the Strategy and Performance Management department.</p> <p>This position reports directly to the Senior Manager of Strategy and Performance Management. The Analyst may work on several strategic projects simultaneously and is expected to independently conduct analysis, generate conclusions, make recommendations and develop material under guidance from the Director and Vice President of Strategy &amp; Performance Management. Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Identify opportunities to support strategy development through thorough analysis</li> <li>Support teammates in leading the business through strategy development and on to execution</li> <li>Develop statistical and financial models in Excel and other tools to project the impact of market events, competitor actions, strategic initiatives, and new business opportunities on metrics such as membership, cost to serve, and margin</li> <li>Maintain a point of view on where the health care industry is headed, and provide a perspective on how BCBSM should respond in light of changing industry trends</li> <li>Support the business through annual capital planning process, helping to create business cases that garner investment</li> <li>Understand the economic and financial drivers of our business, and help articulate that financial perspective within business plans</li> <li>Create executive level presentations and correspondence to communicate recommendations to executive leadership and the Board of Directors</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree required with a major in Business, public health, policy, or mathematics preferred</li> <li>1-3 years of experience in related field required. &nbsp;Health care industry experience strongly preferred</li> <li>Previous experience in management consulting, investment banking, policy, or corporate strategy at a complex organization highly desired</li> </ul> <p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS</strong></p> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a professional demeanor and attitude, and be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
