Competitive Total Compensation Package

Overview: Design, install, maintain and upgrade the enterprise&rsquo;s databases. Provide technical expertise in the use of database technology and are accountable for the overall performance of the enterprise&rsquo;s database environment. Work on multiple projects as a team member, technical lead or advisor. Support multiple databases of medium to high complexity with multiple concurrent users, ensuring control, integrity and accessibility of the data.
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Plan and organize database activities regarding reliability, performance monitoring and tuning, security, backup and disaster recovery. Participate in long term planning for software and hardware upgrades, as needed.</li> <li>Work closely with business and system analysts and solution developers to define and resolve information flow and content issues&mdash;helping to transform business requirements into environment specific databases.</li> <li>Participate in cross-team and cross-project implementations. Translate logical data models into physical database designs. Develop physical databases. Establish information flows. Develop and provide database requirements to system administrators. Design, monitor and maintain data replication primary and secondary databases.</li> <li>Develop, test, maintain, and exercise procedures for backup, restoration and disaster recovery for high availability, high volume mission critical databases. Design, code, edit, install and verify stored procedures and functions for accessing, maintaining, and populating databases, as needed. Recommend and implement database solutions to support data integrity efforts. Participate in projects that require testing and produce metrics and samples for further analysis. Ensure optimal database performance and availability. Monitor utilization for capacity planning. Troubleshoot and resolve application (ex., SQL) performance issues. Forecast utilization patterns and recommend modifications or upgrades. Monitor, analyze database performance and calibrate DBMS parameters so that the database is tuned for optimal performance. Conducts application transaction volume and traffic analysis, and interprets the impact on database performance.</li> <li>Maintain development, production, and multiple testing environments. Oversee the upgrades of databases, adding new structures or elements. Provide, evaluate and develop data access tools and techniques. Build scripts automating the daily operations of database management. Monitor transactions between application systems and the database for the purpose of identifying and improving inefficiencies.</li> <li>Support database security, integrity and access controls. Control privileges and permissions to database users. Provide audit trails to detect potential security violations. Make recommendations to improve security. Participate in security investigations as needed. Assure that appropriate information security is applied in all tasks.</li> <li>Other duties may be assigned.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE</strong></p> <ul style="font-weight: 400;"> <li>Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.</li> <li>Five (5) years of database administration experience working with various database management systems required.</li> </ul> <p style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>DEPARTMENTAL PREFERENCES</strong></p> <ul> <li style="font-weight: 400;">Experience with Database administration of SQL server 2016, 2012, 2008, 2005 and 2000 and newer versions of SQL Server.</li> <li style="font-weight: 400;">Experience in installation, configuration and support of&nbsp; SQL Server Reporting Services, SQL Server Analytical Services and SQL Server Integration Services.</li> <li style="font-weight: 400;">Five years of experience supporting the development of SQL server applications.</li> <li style="font-weight: 400;">Five years relation database technology expertise</li> <li style="font-weight: 400;">Five years of experience in SQL and scripting.</li> <li style="font-weight: 400;">Significant experience in identifying and resolving SQL performance issues &nbsp;</li> <li style="font-weight: 400;">Service oriented and able to share technical knowledge with others</li> <li style="font-weight: 400;">Responds to requests for assistance, with some requests requiring formal responses.</li> <li style="font-weight: 400;">Experience is SQL server Cluster and Cluster databases</li> <li style="font-weight: 400;">Experience with Quest performance monitoring tool.</li> </ul> <p style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES</strong></p> <ul style="font-weight: 400;"> <li>Broad level of understanding surrounding information systems and application and/or web standards and database licensing.</li> <li>Thorough understanding of performance monitoring, analysis and tuning.</li> <li>Advanced to expert knowledge and understanding of a particular database platform.</li> <li>Extensive knowledge of database administration methodologies and techniques, and a good understanding of logical and physical database design principles.</li> <li>Written and verbal communication skills interpersonal skills.</li> <li>Ability to work independently, or within a team environment.</li> <li>Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to perform this job.</li> </ul> <p style="font-weight: 400;"><em>All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to, among other grounds, race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, gender identity, protected veteran status or status as an individual with a disability.</em></p>
