Overview: <p><strong>Responsible to provide 24 hour, 7 day leadership in the safe operations and maintenance of building systems and equipment for the technical specialty assigned (architectural, mechanical, electrical, building automation systems administration) and for the associated internal and external building trades, servicing these systems and equipment.</strong>&nbsp;</p>
Responsibilities: <p>Master Electrician Team Leads first response team in resolution of building or system emergencies to assure business continuity. Manage capital improvement and facility reconfiguration projects as related to area of knowledge including building architectural, electrical, and mechanical system design, installation, operations and maintenance, including contract administration where applicable. As applicable, registers trade license with local municipalities and secures annual permits for service work per building codes and standards.<br /><br />Develop, present and execute initiatives that support continuous improvement efforts keeping all code compliant and current in industry standards and best practices. Provide cost effective recommendations for project specifications. Maintain assigned budget, supervise bargaining unit staff in accordance with the Master Labor Agreement (MLA) and manage contracted support staff and assigned projects. Coordinate and schedule daily team tasks.&nbsp; Specify and order tools, supplies and replacement components related to responsible operations, maintenance, and projects. Must be well-versed in problem resolution with staff, clients, contractors and issues dealing with areas of specialization. Develop and manipulate digital reports</p>
Requirements: <p><strong>EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE</strong></p> <ul> <li>Must have current State of Michigan Master Electrician License</li> <li>Must have at least 10 years of field electrician experience with at least 3 years of leadership as a master electrician in a facilities maintenance and construction environment supervising union affiliated staff</li> <li>Be willing to register license with city of Detroit, on behalf of BCBSM, for securing of annual permits or as otherwise needed</li> <li>Be capable of leading a 24x7 shift of employees or contractors performing multiple electrical maintenance and construction related tasks or projects</li> <li>Must have excellent written and verbal communications and administrative computer based skills</li> <li>Be able to demonstrate competency interfacing with various equipment control and monitoring systems</li> </ul> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.&nbsp; The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.&nbsp; Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p> <p><strong>OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES</strong></p> <ol> <li>Intermediate organizational, planning, analytical, verbal and written communication skills required; ability to professionally communicate and interact with all levels of leadership</li> <li>Intermediate project management skills required</li> <li>Ability to work effectively with limited direction in a union affiliated team environment.</li> <li>The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.</li> <li>Familiar with facility contracts, negotiations, performance measurements and continuous improvement processes.</li> <li>Familiar with all jurisdictional building codes and environment, health &amp; safety regulations.</li> <li>Must demonstrate proficiency in computer applications to support reporting, documentation, archiving and presentations; as related to specific area of expertise.</li> <li>Advanced ability to read, understand and interpret construction drawings and specifications.</li> </ol> <p><strong>OTHER REQUIREMENTS</strong></p> <ol> <li>Provides supervision of 24x7 shift operations.&nbsp; Must be available after normal working hours (including weekends and holidays) on a regular, recurring basis.</li> <li>Must be able to perform all tasks and duties of assigned staff during a building emergency to assure life safety of staff and occupants while supporting business continuity.</li> <li>Secure building authority permits and certifications as required; assure regulatory compliance</li> <li>Supervise bargaining and non-bargaining unit employees.</li> <li>Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and toxic or caustic chemicals.&nbsp; The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, explosives, and vibration.&nbsp; The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.</li> </ol> <p><strong>ADDITIONAL INFORMATION</strong></p> <p>The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.&nbsp; They are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel so classified.&nbsp; This job description does not constitute a contract for employment.</p>
