Overview: <p>Responsible to plan, organize, direct, control, and lead assigned business unit; specialize in strategy development, planning, and leadership; operate within broad objectives to ensure optimum utilization of capital and manpower for the assigned business unit.</p>
Responsibilities: <p>This position will assist in long-term planning for BCBSM by identifying and developing strategic tradeoffs that will drive future performance.&nbsp; We&rsquo;re looking for candidates with structured problem-solving and communication skills who can operate in ambiguous environments.&nbsp; To be successful in this role, the manager would be familiar with leading strategy and management frameworks, financial analysis, PowerPoint, and/or business architecture.</p> <p>The Strategic Planning team interacts with leaders across the organization.&nbsp; Given the scope of the role, a variety of backgrounds will be considered, including, but not limited to, demonstrated success in consulting, corporate strategy and business development, IT architecture, and medical cost management.</p> <p>Manage activities of a department that are directly related to the corporate strategies, goals, and objectives.&nbsp;Develop and maintain systems to monitor, measure, and report performance and achievement of programs, long-term goals and strategic initiatives that have divisional and/or corporate impact.&nbsp;Manage and monitor programs, projects or assignments.&nbsp;Maintain knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures in related field.&nbsp;Assist executive leadership in developing and approving annual goals and ensure corporate standards are consistently met.&nbsp;May manage professional, exempt, and non-exempt non-bargaining and bargaining unit employees.&nbsp;Provide solutions to complex business problems and make recommendations to senior management to improve strategic initiatives and technical processes.&nbsp;Maintain comprehensive understanding of all BCBSM's products, programs, administrative policies and procedures.&nbsp;Provide high level oversight and leadership.&nbsp;Utilize primary and secondary research to assist in identifying best practices and opportunities for the corporation.&nbsp;Other duties may be assigned.</p>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in related field required.&nbsp; Master's Degree in related field preferred.</li> <li>Five (5) years or more experience in related field including experience in a leadership role.</li> <li>Excellent analytical, decision making, organizational, creative problem solving, verbal and written skills are required.</li> <li>High level of proficiency in use of existing software packages (PowerPoint, Excel, Microsoft Word, etc).</li> <li>Ability to work independently within a team environment with multiple priorities.</li> <li>Ability to effectively interface with management at all levels and as well as contacts outside the organization.</li> <li>Understand and apply basic financial analysis and modeling.</li> <li>Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to perform this job.</li> <li>Valid Michigan Accident and Health Insurance License.</li> <li>Valid and unrestricted driver's license is required.</li> </ul>
