Paid Internship

Overview: Interns will be working closely with Provider Enrollment and Corporate Credentialing to learn the requirements necessary for practitioners and facilities to be enrollment and credentialed prior to receiving a contract to see BCBSM, BCN and Amerihealth of Michigan/BCC members. The interns will also have an opportunity to learn how practitioner information is monitored on an ongoing basis, and to work with Provider Operations Technical Support team to learn various ways to query data and create reports. Interns will also be exposed to committee meetings to experience committee operations that have a big part in determining departmental activities and operations and the impacts of healthcare.
Responsibilities: <p>While mentoring with Provider Enrollment and Credentialing departmental leaders, the interns will experience real time enrollment and credentialing processes by inputting and retrieving data from BCBSM systems. The main objectives will be to provide education and experiences in:</p> <ul> <li>Enrolling doctors, non-physician practitioners and facilities into the system.</li> <li>Credentialing procedures to ensure all criteria is met.</li> <li>Learning about accrediting and regulatory bodies that govern healthcare.</li> <li>Query systems to create reports.</li> <li>Data Entry (Excel and Access databases).</li> <li>Interaction with healthcare professionals.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong>Required &amp; Preferred Skills</strong></p> <ul> <li>Use of computer applications (ex. Word, Outlook).</li> <li>Knowledge of Excel and Access databases preferred.</li> </ul>
