The Internship Program at BCBSM is designed to enhance the skills and abilities of young professionals as well as to identify and attract future talent for our organization. Interns will gain practical hands-on work experience as well as a solid understanding of the health insurance industry. Paid Internship

Overview: <p style="font-weight: 400;">Interns will get&nbsp;the opportunity to observe and get a general understanding of how the underwriting world works from a BCBSM perspective. Interns will learn about the various activities and reporting that is done&nbsp;in&nbsp;either&nbsp;Small&nbsp;Group, Large Group, New Business, and Individual Underwriting.</p> <p style="font-weight: 400;">Interns will:</p> <ul> <li style="font-weight: 400;">Understand aspects of Health Insurance products and Benefit Design</li> <li style="font-weight: 400;">Understand the&nbsp;rating process and drivers of rate development</li> <li style="font-weight: 400;">Learn the importance of open communication with&nbsp;partners</li> <li style="font-weight: 400;">Understand the impact of Healthcare Reform</li> </ul>

Requirements: <p><span style="font-family: arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">Ideal candidates for the Underwriting&nbsp;internships should:</span></span></p> <ul> <li><span style="font-family: arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">Major in&nbsp;Finance,&nbsp;Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Informatics&nbsp;or other majors with a strong analytical focus</span></span></li> <li><span style="font-family: arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">Have an overall GPA of 3.0 or better, 3.5 preferred</span></span></li> <li><span style="font-family: arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">Be able to demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and&nbsp;analytic skills</span></span></li> <li><span style="font-family: arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">Have previous work experience</span></span></li> <li><span style="font-family: arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">Have an interest in Insurance&nbsp;and/or Risk Management</span></span></li> </ul>
