Overview: <p>Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Interns in our Finance Program will have a busy, enriching summer gaining real world work experience in a professional, business setting. The Summer 2018 internships are full time, paid and demanding yet enjoyable and rewarding.&nbsp; Interns will grow in their roles as finance professionals and learn by doing in a fast paced environment.</p> <p>Selected interns will work in a variety of areas of finance and have exposure to all aspects of corporate finance. Interns will be assigned a variety of tasks.&nbsp; In our exciting and ever changing environment, our interns always have opportunities to learn and grow.</p>
Responsibilities: <p>Capture, manipulate and extract data from multiple sources and summarize it for leadership review ensuring data integrity Prepare and deliver insights and recommendations based on analysis Synthesize findings and draw conclusions from analyses to make oral/written recommendations to leadership Communicate issues and roadblocks related to areas of responsibility</p>
Requirements: <p>Preferred majors include Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration Statistics, Financial Mathematics or Actuarial majors</p> <p>Demonstrate understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, balance sheet, income statement, financial statement analysis, internal controls, journal entries, accounts payable and cost accounting/allocations</p> <ul> <li>Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel including v lookups and pivot tables required</li> <li>Strong working knowledge of Powerpoint and Word required</li> <li>GPA of 3.25 required 3.5 or better preferred</li> <li>Be enrolled as a full time student in a 4 year degree program with sophomore, junior or senior year status</li> <li>Able to work full time during the summer of 2018</li> </ul> <p>Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Attention to detail.</li> <li>The ability to multi-task.</li> <li>Excellent communication skills.</li> <li>Excellent time management/work organization skills.</li> <li>Analytical thinking, problem solving and demonstrate insight.</li> </ul>
