Overview: This position will offer insight into pharmacy contracting and networks, pharmacy credentialing process, pharmacy claim adjudication process, and customer service with pharmacy providers and vendors.<br /><br /><strong>Intern Objectives:<br /></strong><br />Learn and understand BCBSM/BCN pharmacy contracts and pharmacy credentialing process; how they work and are maintained<br />Gain understanding of the retail pharmacy claim adjudication process<br />Understand relationships between BCBSM/BCN Pharmacy Services and internal/external customers (i.e. BCBSM Audit area, Retail MI pharmacies, Marketing, Mail Order Pharmacies, Specialty Mail Order Pharmacies, etc.)
Responsibilities: Job Assignments and Responsibilities: Assisting in pharmacy provider contracting efforts, pharmacy credentialing and continuing participation verification (CPV) processes Annual Billing Incorrectly article for publication in BCBSM provider communication Annual Pharmacy Survey &agrave; will be involved in the development, execution, analysis of results and putting together of presentation Involved in reviewing/investigating pharmacy network issues and/or claim issues &agrave; communicating with pharmacies and/or chain headquarters Pharmacy Projects (pharmacy/pharmacist license review, review closed pharmacy list, development of job aids for new processes, etc.) Assist with day to day tasks as needed <br /><br /><strong>Special Activities Planned:</strong><br /> <ul> <li>Review prior/current disciplinary action reports and update pharmacy network database</li> <li>Work with chain headquarter pharmacy contacts to obtain updated annual reports</li> <li>Go on a Field Audit</li> </ul>
Requirements: <strong>Preferred Major(s):</strong> <br /> <ul> <li>Pharmacy</li> </ul> <strong>Preferred and Minimum Candidate Standing:</strong> <br /> <ul> <li>Preferably Pharm.D. student with at least 2 year of pharmacy program completion; some experience in retail pharmacy setting preferred; previous experience as a retail pharmacy technician/intern with customer service skills ideal; experience working with the public and phone skills ideal.</li> <li>Desired GPA:&nbsp;<u>&gt;</u>&nbsp;3.0</li> </ul> <p><strong>Desired skills and competencies:&nbsp;</strong></p> <ul> <li>Intermediate level of skill with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and Access)</li> <li>Effective communication skills/Customer Service experience</li> <li>Demonstrate ability to work independently or with little direction, handle multiple projects simultaneously and assume responsibility for meeting deadlines.</li> </ul> <p><strong>&nbsp;Preferred Work Experience:</strong></p> <ul> <li>&nbsp;At least one year of Retail Pharmacy experience</li> </ul>
