Overview: Plan, develop, test and implement IT system solutions that improve business efficiency and productivity as well as support business strategies and goals for the IT organization.&nbsp; Identify and communicate business needs and translate business requirements into technical system and functional specifications.
Responsibilities: <p><strong>Health Plan Business</strong></p> <ul> <li>Participate as a member of an application project team supporting claims, membership, front-end/back-office applications and other IT processes. Internship positions also available supporting health care value IT and Medicare Advantage.</li> </ul> <p><strong>IT Business Operations</strong></p> <ul> <li>Participate as a member of a resource management, strategic partnership management, budget management, portfolio management, performance management, communications, training or other administrative project team.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Production Office</strong></p> <ul> <li>Participate as a member of a team supporting the data center, disaster recovery, telecommunications, print, networking or other IT infrastructure operations.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Information Security</strong></p> <ul> <li>Participate as a member of a team focused on overseeing the enterprise information security functions which includes application security testing, information security policy/procedure development, security audits, incident response, access provisioning and analytical support.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Information Management &amp; Provider Systems</strong></p> <ul> <li>Participate as a member of a team focused on information management, clinical data support, data analytics, advanced reporting, electronic data interchange, or delivering health care value.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Corporate Services</strong></p> <ul> <li>Participate as a member of a team that provides IT support to corporate areas such as Human Resources, Finance, Legal, Audit/Compliance and Procurement.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p><strong>Assignments and responsibilities</strong></p> <p>Assignments and responsibilities will vary based on the functional area that the intern is assigned to for 2018.</p> <ul> <li>Participate in the translation of requirements into functional design documents and in system design process for new or enhanced systems.</li> <li>Participate in test planning process for modifications or new systems.&nbsp; Perform application testing as directed, communicating outcomes with the team.</li> <li>Present to individuals at all levels of the organization including the executive team.</li> <li>Document system modifications.&nbsp; Support the development of system manuals.</li> <li>Write code to specifications in support of business requirements.</li> <li>Assist with the identification, investigation and statement of problems.&nbsp; Work directly with internal and external clients to reach resolutions.</li> <li>Research and read documentation for systems currently being used within the organization.</li> <li>Collect and analyze data and develop reports for the assessment of performance against Service Level Agreements (SLAs), as needed.&nbsp; Support achievement of SLAs.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Must be currently be enrolled in a college undergraduate program with a class standing of junior or higher or in a graduate program</li> <li>Must have a GPA of 3.0 or above</li> <li>For technical roles candidates must be majoring in one of the following:</li> <ul> <li>Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, IT, MIS, Computer Engineering, Systems or Software Engineering, Web Development, Mobile Development, or a related program</li> </ul> <li>For non-technical/administrative roles candidates must be majoring in one of the following (knowledge in these areas may be considered a plus for technical roles):</li> <ul> <li>Business Administration, Business Management, Human Resources, Health Care Administration, Finance, Communications, or other discipline</li> </ul> <li>One (1) year of relevant intern work experience preferred</li> </ul> <p><strong>Required and Preferred Skills</strong></p> <ul> <li>Strong analytical, technical, interpersonal and communication skills</li> <li>Ability to work independently, or within a team environment</li> <li>Problem solving and issue resolution skills</li> <li>Ability to multitask with a high degree of organization and attention to detail</li> <li>Experience with Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Project, Access, Visio)</li> <li>Knowledge of various software and web development methodologies (Agile, Waterfall)</li> <li>Knowledge of various programming languages/platforms (.Net, Javascript, SQL)</li> <li>Knowledge of various operating systems (Windows, Unix)</li> <li>Knowledge of various databases (Oracle, MySQL)&nbsp;</li> <li>Knowledge of various software applications (Crystal Reports, CA-Harvest, Rational ClearQuest)</li> <li>Knowledge of project delivery methodologies/concepts</li> <li>Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to perform this job</li> </ul> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.&nbsp; The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.&nbsp; Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p>
