Overview: <p>Interns will have the opportunity to modify and enhance desktop software applications that support the Actuary and Underwriting department.</p> <p>The interns will&nbsp;gain experience&nbsp;in requirements gathering, coding, unit testing, user acceptance testing, and implementation.<br /><br />Interns will report status to their leader and receive regular feedback from their leader on their overall status.</p>
Responsibilities: <p><strong>Assignments may include but are not limited to:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Requirements gathering and working with a business customer</li> <li>Develop test cases and test plans based&nbsp;on the user requirement&nbsp;</li> <li>Perform&nbsp;coding and development&nbsp;activities</li> <li>Perform unit testing based upon the test plan, and document test results.</li> <li>Assist in the User Acceptance Testing with the business customer to receive a signoff that the enhancements for the application is working well.</li> <li>Provide regular status to leader on overall progress</li> <li>Participate in weekly 1-on-1 and team meetings, and create at least one presentation for the department.</li> <li>Perform ad hoc tasks to support the team as needed.</li> <li>Learn&nbsp;the industry terminology for an underwriting department of a major U.S. healthcare company.&nbsp;</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong>The ideal candidate for the Summer Intern - Software Developer position will possess the following qualifications:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Major in&nbsp;Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar.</li> <li>Strong programming&nbsp;background in Microsoft development tools and languages, such as&nbsp;Microsoft Access, VBA scripting, and Visual Basic.NET.</li> <li>Be able to demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and&nbsp;analytical skills.</li> <li>Show&nbsp;initiative&nbsp;and be able to work independently on assigned tasks with some direction from their leader.</li> <li>Have an overall GPA of 3.0 or better.</li> </ul>
