Overview: <ul> <li style="font-weight: 400;">Describe the BCBSM formulary process and the value of the BCBSM utilization management tools and how they are maintained from both a clinical and operational perspective</li> <li style="font-weight: 400;">Explain the Quality Rating System (QRS) and pharmacy-related quality measures</li> <li style="font-weight: 400;">Describe how prescription claims are processed and how BCBSM Pharmacy Services work with its claims processor to ensure correct claim processing</li> <li style="font-weight: 400;">Participate in the medication coverage review process, including the clinical review and rendering a coverage determination for medication requests (step-therapy, prior authorization, quantity limits override)</li> <li style="font-weight: 400;">Participate in development of utilization management criteria</li> </ul>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li style="font-weight: 400;">Assist in developing clinical rationale for medication use policies and/or utilization management tools for a particular drug or class of drugs</li> <li style="font-weight: 400;">Prepare clinical criteria documents for presentation at the P&amp;T committee meetings</li> <li style="font-weight: 400;">Support the Quality Rating System (QRS) for Health Insurance Marketplace plans, including patient counseling on medication adherence via telephone and participation in health fairs</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Current pharmacy students completing at least two years of a Pharm D program.</li> <li>Desired GPA: 3.0 or above</li> </ul> Desired skills and competencies:<br /> <ul> <li>Strong pharmacy &amp; therapeutics knowledge</li> <li>Effective verbal and written communication skills</li> <li>Ability to handle multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously</li> <li>Interest in practicing pharmacy in a managed care environment</li> </ul> Preferred Work Experience: <br /><br />Upon completion of the internship, the intern will have gained experience relating to understanding managed care pharmacy and pharmacy benefit administration.&nbsp;
