Overview: <p><u>Overview &amp; Objectives:</u></p> <p><strong>Position Overview</strong>:&nbsp; This position will offer insight into reporting and analytics which support the Pharmacy Administration Department.&nbsp; Reports support the work of the Pharmacy Sales staff, the MAC* Administration staff, and the Pharmacy Administration management team.</p> <p>MAC stands for Maximum Allowable Cost.&nbsp; The MAC program is a cost management program which establishes price caps for generic drugs.&nbsp; The program is designed to encourage the dispensing of cost-effective, generically equivalent drugs when appropriate.</p> <p><u>Intern Objectives:</u></p> <ul> <li>Understand the BCBSM Pharmacy (RX) Administration business model (i.e., vendor arrangements and responsibilities).</li> <li>Learn about BCBSM Prescription Drug programs and Specialty Pharmacy.</li> <li>Learn about BCBSM RX benefit designs (important for being able to run and understand reports).</li> <li>Learn about data oversight, reporting, and transition to analytics.</li> <li>Understand the role of pricing guarantees for the RX benefit; learn how to run guarantee reports and understand their implications.</li> <li>Understand and model pricing considerations for the BCBSM MAC list.</li> </ul>
Responsibilities: <p><u>Job Assignments and Responsibilities:</u></p> <ul> <li>Assist with Pharmacy reporting and analytics.</li> <li>Assist with MAC program weekly price updates.</li> <li>Provide support to corporate projects in flight during the time of the Internship.</li> <li>Attend meetings related to data, reporting, and analytics.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><u>Required &amp; Preferred Skills:</u></p> <ul> <li><strong>Preferred Major(s)</strong>: Healthcare, Business</li> <li><strong>Preferred and Minimum Candidate Standing:&nbsp;</strong>Prefer student who has achieved Senior status (i.e., completed 3 years toward attainment of Bachelor&rsquo;s degree)</li> <li><strong>Desired GPA:</strong>&nbsp;3.4 or above</li> </ul> <p><u>Desired skills and competencies</u>:</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated proficiency in Access, Excel, SQL, and SAS.</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to work independently, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet specified project deadlines.</li> <li>Ability to think through complex issues and develop effective solutions.</li> <li>Strong analytic capability.</li> <li>Excellent oral and written communication skills.</li> <li>Attention to detail.</li> </ul> <p><u>Preferred Work Experience</u>:</p> <ul> <li>&nbsp;Prefer candidate with previous work experience</li> </ul>
