As the successful shop supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient operations of our fleet of Mixer trucks, Loaders, Zoom Boom, and light trucks. Responsibilities: <p><strong data-redactor-tag="strong">Location: 5324 Riverbend Dr. Burnaby, BC</strong></p> <p><strong data-redactor-tag="strong">What you will be doing:</strong></p> <p><strong data-redactor-tag="strong">Supervision</strong></p> <ul> <li>Hire, train, coach, supervise and discipline shop employees</li> <li>Ensure shop employees are working in efficient and effective manner</li> <li>Ensure shop employees are trained and competent in the tasks they are being asked to complete</li> <li>Encourage employees to be courteous and professional with suppliers and other&nbsp;<strong data-redactor-tag="strong">Burnco</strong>&nbsp;employees</li> </ul> <p><strong data-redactor-tag="strong">Operations</strong></p> <ul> <li>Schedule, lead and train technicians in a safety conscious manner following all National Safety Code requirements and&nbsp;<strong data-redactor-tag="strong">BURNCO</strong>&nbsp;safety procedures/policies to maintain safe equipment and environment</li> <li>Schedule shifts to optimize shop production and minimize downtime</li> <li>Monitor expenditures and identifying opportunities for cost savings</li> <li>Communicates regularly with Operations Manager to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.</li> <li>Ensure proper NSC &amp; warranty documentation is collected and delivered to shop administrator in a reasonable amount of time</li> <li>Maintain a parts room of appropriate stock to meet the needs of the business.</li> <li>Ensure adequate tools, and shop supplies inventories are available to meet demands</li> <li>Assist other&nbsp;<strong data-redactor-tag="strong">BURNCO</strong>&nbsp;RMX repairs and maintenance requirements as needed</li> </ul> <p><strong data-redactor-tag="strong">Vehicle Repair</strong></p> <ul> <li>Prepare weekly maintenance schedules and allocate work</li> <li>Provide timely and cost effective repairs and services</li> <li>Estimate, budget and perform major repairs in a cost effective manner</li> <li>Evaluate workload versus resources and determine if 3rd party services are required</li> <li>Coordinate preventative maintenance and BC CVI inspections and repairs</li> <li>Implement strategies to streamline costs and reduce overall down time with the Ready Mix fleet</li> </ul> <p><strong data-redactor-tag="strong">Reality of the Job:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Work hours depend on business needs, but typical hours are Monday through Friday with a Saturday rotating shift. Some longer hours during peak times</li> <li>Be available on an on-call schedule to support emergency repairs.</li> <li>Must be capable of performing routine physical requirements of the job including climbing in and out of trucks, crouching, bending and lifting to 50 lbs or 23 kgs</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong data-redactor-tag="strong">What we would like from you:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Proven experience as maintenance supervisor or similar role</li> <li>Professional Certification - Provincial Mechanics license; Journeyman Heavy Duty Equipment Technician and/or Journeyman Truck and Transport Mechanic certification</li> <li>Planning and leadership abilities</li> <li>Valid Driver&rsquo;s license with clean Driver&rsquo;s Abstract</li> <li>Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities</li> <li>Strong interpersonal and organizational skills</li> </ul> <p><strong data-redactor-tag="strong">It would be great if you had but we&rsquo;ll still like you even if you don&rsquo;t:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience in or an understanding of the concrete industry</li> <li>Experience with concrete Mixers and aggregate haul trucks preferred</li> <li>Class 1A Driver&rsquo;s Licence</li> </ul> <p><strong data-redactor-tag="strong">SAFETY IS A CORE VALUE AT BURNCO</strong></p> <p><em data-redactor-tag="em">As a safety sensitive position, it is a condition of employment that candidates successfully pass pre-employment testing that includes both drug (including Cannabis) and alcohol screening, as well as Fit to Work testing.</em></p>
