Our mission is to engage our audience with stories they care about.</p> <p><strong>The opportunity</strong></p> <p>Our new Product Manager will play an integral role ensuring that the content our audience needs and wants can be delivered to them with speed and accuracy. This is an opportunity to be a leader in the future of building CBC&rsquo;s core infrastructure. A chance to guide the work on a product and features that will effectively use metadata &nbsp;to connect our content our audience; and, facilitate delivery of that content to their web, mobile or even new platforms. As Product Manager, you will collaborate across teams, provide guidance along the roadmap and ensure we make progress on our Digital Strategy. If you're passionate about Canada and you love technology, learning and bringing out the best in others, you&rsquo;ll love working at CBC.</p> <p><strong>Who you are and where are you now?</strong></p> <p>You are a Technical Product Manager, a seasoned developer or architect with leadership experience, or Technical Business Analyst. You want a chance to lead a team that is as passionate about possibilities as they are about distributing great content that speaks to all Canadians. As a thoughtful leader, you can inspire the work of a cross-functional product team and encourage collaboration to shape their contributions. You will focus on content distribution and meeting the needs of all interested parties with the focus on performance, timeliness and scalability. You will guide the team as they build &ldquo;best-of-breed&rdquo; platforms for centralized and universal access to data. You will lead the development of and enable the integration of recommendation systems, and seamless repositories that reach across the breadth of our content.</p> <p><u>B</u>elonging. You will forge internal relationships across teams. You will work closely with Engineers, IT, Content Producers, Machine Intelligence Developers, Analysts to develop a more collaborative approach on how our Digital Products deliver content to our audience with our offerings Watch, Listen and Feed. &nbsp;Our multiple teams provide the systems to deliver content to our audience through these three pillars in real time with scalable, highly available software.</p> <p><u>C</u>areer growth. Responsibilities: <p><strong>How you will make a difference:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Be an influencer in the future of building CBC&rsquo;s core infrastructure. You will enlighten and guide the team to understand how data moves between interests and the audience at CBC. This team will touch every part of CBC&rsquo;s digital landscape and move to become one of the most important pieces for getting content and data to our audience.</li> <li>Build a strategy. You will develop the product strategy and roadmap. You will gather and outline requirements and research various content and data sources.</li> <li>Drive alignment. You will help align our infrastructure roadmap, listen to the needs of the business, and explain technology choices to the broader CBC.</li> <li>Nurture a culture of collaboration, learning, creativity and fun. You will guide the work of a cross-functional team providing mentorship and direction.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong>What you bring:</strong></p> <ul> <li>The education. A University degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering is preferred, but we know not everyone gains their skills this way.</li> <li>The technical expertise. You have hands-on experience working with databases and data integration. You understand:</li> <li>APIs - how they send and receive data.</li> <li>Relational, key value and column-based databases.</li> <li>Mission critical software engineering and centralized data stores.</li> <li>Various data structures and uses such as XML, JSON and RSS</li> <li>Predictive analytics.</li> <li>Data production and consumption requirements from third party stakeholders</li> <li>Understanding of the Ingest and process disparate sets of information about content and data sources</li> <li>The leadership experience. You have experience as a Senior Developer, Technical BA, Product Owner or Product Manager building enterprise products. Broadcast or Digital Media would be a huge bonus. You have a deep understanding of how to inspire and guide the work of a team and you can nurture strong two-way relationships with technical teams, peers, executives and other stakeholders. You embrace new technology and continue to familiarize yourself with applying new tools and processes.</li> <li>The knowledge. You are a strategic thinker and an idea-generator. You have the patience to consider all options before jumping into a decision and the imagination to put forward and inspire big ideas.
