CBC Digital Products is looking for a Product Owner to provide technical development assessment and product support for the CBC Gem app.</p> <p>This is a long-term contract opportunity to work alongside CBC Gem&rsquo;s Product Manager, an internal team of over-the-top (OTT) streaming experts and enthusiasts, and external vendor and technology providers. It&rsquo;s a chance to play a vital role in a collaborative build, measure, learn-focused environment, where discoverable, engaging, accessible, and well-merchandised product experiences are valued. Gem is part of the CBC&rsquo;s continuous exploration of furthering its mandate to entertain and enlighten through the presentation and promotion of rich content to Canadians, and beyond.</p>
Responsibilities: <p><strong>What&rsquo;s in it for you?</strong></p> <p><u>C</u>utting edge tech: CBC has more than 25 digital products, all of which are mandated to reach Canadians online everywhere and every way, with a high emphasis on mobile devices. To achieve that goal, it takes a robust infrastructure, powerful technologies, reliable solutions, and rewarding work. You will:</p> <ul> <li>Assess and deliver seamless feature and platform integrations.&nbsp;</li> <li>Provide process and system improvement recommendations.</li> <li>Monitor product releases to provide consistent quality of service for CBC Gem users.&nbsp;</li> <li>Work closely with CBC stakeholders and digital product teams to effectively prioritize the backlog.</li> </ul> <p><u>B</u>elonging: CBC/Radio-Canada is a Canadian institution. Ideally, you have exposure to digital media products. Requirements: <p><strong>What you bring:</strong></p> <ul> <li>The education. A post-secondary degree in a field related to Internet technologies, engineering, business management, or equivalent experience. You have the knowledge and understanding of best practices in product development and release.</li> <li>The expertise. You have 2+ years in Agile product development and management with: <ul> <li>Hands-on technical or engineering experience.&nbsp;</li> <li>Scoping, planning, and delivering time-sensitive app and video features.&nbsp;</li> <li>Continuous improvement and test-driven development to identify obstacles, while improving product delivery and processes.</li> </ul> </li> <li>The approach. You are comfortable taking on the role of subject matter expert,&nbsp; transforming requirements into digestible elements. You have experience identifying product iterations based on data from customers, feedback from testing, and strategic initiatives.</li> <li>The passion. You have a genuine interest in technology, product development, and linking the two to satisfying audience experiences and engagement. A continuous learner, you seek out information and new ways to work.</li> <li>Exceptional communication skills. You know how to listen and relay empathy and understanding for diverse perspectives. You can convey insights from complex analysis to non-technical business users</li> <li>Collaborative Agile experience. You can build strong two-way relationship with internal and external stakeholders. You thrive in a team-focused environment.
