It&rsquo;s a 12 month contract opportunity as the first Product Manager working on our Conversational Interface Platform. As the original Radio broadcaster for Canada, we are getting ready to step into this brand new space and lead the way Canadians engage with the CBC.</p> <p>Our new Product Manager needs to know how to leverage new technology to interpret whatever our audience says, does or wants as a way to create meaningful content for them. As Product Manager, you will inspire the team and provide the product vision, strategy and roadmap You will oversee the development, ship often, and continue to iterate; reporting on metrics and presenting to executives. You will work closely with the Senior Manager to bring on new members that fit our culture and follow our product philosophy &ldquo;build-measure-learn.&rdquo;</p> <p>If you're passionate about Canada and you love technology, learning and bringing out the best in others, you&rsquo;ll love working at CBC.</p> <p><strong>Who you are and where are you now?</strong></p> <p>You are an innovator and explorer at heart. You may have experience with Voice Recognition, Conversational Interface or Voice User Interface. Responsibilities: <p><strong>How you will make a difference:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Research, explore, experiment, discover. You will closely examine the market, play with technologies and determine the best way to apply the tools we have - and identify the tools we need - to build out a powerful Conversation Interface.</li> <li>Build a strategy. You will develop the product strategy and roadmap, outlining requirements, creating user stories and defining the scope and deliverables.</li> <li>Draft reports and presentations. You will present concepts, product updates and relevant metrics to upper level management.</li> <li>Forge collaborative relationships. You will work closely with external partners &nbsp;- the giants in technology - to gain a deep understanding of how to leverage voice activated home technology for our audience. You will seek out input from department leads, different teams and content creators to plan for and pilot the distribution of high-quality content.</li> <li>Nurture a culture of collaboration, learning, creativity and fun. You will lead the work of a cross-functional team providing mentorship and direction. You will empower your team to propose new concepts. You will conduct formal performance evaluation and provide access to professional development, all resulting in happy and satisfied team members.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong>What you bring:</strong></p> <ul> <li>The education. A University degree is preferred, but we know not everyone gains their skills this way.</li> <li>The passion. You have a passion for cutting edge tech, the Internet of Things and bringing both to the everyday consumer.</li> <li>The leadership experience. You have experience as a BA, Product Owner or Product Manager working on similar interactive products and apps. Broadcast or Digital Media would be a huge bonus. You have a deep understanding of how to inspire and guide the work of a team and you can nurture strong two-way relationships with technical teams, peers, executives and other stakeholders. You are familiar with the tools, technologies and processes used in product design and development.</li> <li>The knowledge. You are a strategic thinker and an idea-generator. You have the patience to consider all options before jumping into a decision and the imagination to put forward and inspire big ideas. You are familiar with industry best practices and comfortable communicating with your end-user audience.</li> <li>The collaborative approach. You thrive in- and can foster- a team-focused environment. You can provide guidance and direction for teams.
