Our mission is to engage our audience with stories they care about.</p> <p><strong>The opportunity</strong></p> <p>At CBC Digital Audio Products, we are exploring voice-assisted interactions as a new way to connect our audience with the content they want to hear. We are looking for someone who has experience as an Information Architect or as an Designer of information architecture and wireframes who wants to take the next step into the Conversational Interface and Voice Assistant space, joining us as our first Voice User Interface (VUI) Architect on a 12 month contract. This is one of our most innovative endeavours - one that could truly redefine how Canadians interact with all of CBC, not just Audio.</p> <p>From Amazon&rsquo;s Alexa-powered Echo devices to the Google Assistant on Home devices and Siri on Apple&rsquo;s new HomePod speaker - to the voice-powered In-Car experience and the next generation of the smartphones in your pocket. The future is in conversational interface and the Internet of Things. As the original Radio broadcaster for Canada, we are getting ready to step into this brand new space and lead the way Canadians engage with the CBC.</p> <p>Our new VUI Architect will focus on the planning, design and validation of the conversation flow and voice activated interactions for CBC products on smart assistant platforms. You will develop high-level and detailed &nbsp;voice user interface (VUI) storyboards, mockups, and prototypes to effectively communicate voice interaction and design ideas. You&rsquo;ll create detailed, comprehensive VUI design specifications in collaboration with Engineering. Finally, you will create guidelines, reference artifacts, and resources for third-party developers who may be assisting CBC in bringing this mandate to Canadians everywhere.</p> <p>If you're passionate about Canada and you love technology, learning and bringing out the best in others, you&rsquo;ll love working at CBC.</p>
Responsibilities: <p><strong>Who you are and where are you now?</strong></p> <p>Ideally, you have experience in designing speech-enabled interaction flows across a variety of usability contexts and device types. You&rsquo;re looking to step up into a VUI or Conversational architecture role. You basic understanding or an interest in Human Computer Interaction, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and/or Machine Learning (ML). You thrive in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team. You love experimenting with technologies and tools at home and at work; creating enhancements and simplifications. You are passionate about streamlining the voice user interface and interaction experience for users. You&rsquo;re able to work within and along with multidisciplinary cross-platform teams to successfully create and launch innovative products to market. Requirements: <p><strong>What you bring:</strong></p> <ul> <li>The education. Your skills span across information architecture, conversation/interaction design, user research, usability and accessibility. You can comfortably create and present documentation including conceptual diagrams, wireframes, interaction flows and content inventories.</li> <li>The knowledge. You understand the strategic importance of Conversational Interface and why we are placing so much emphasis on it.</li> <li>The passion. You enjoy the conducting conversations with Google, Alexa or Siri. In fact, you may have found out about this role that way!
