With hundreds of hours of short-form video ranging from news clips, explanatory videos, makeup tutorials, home decor how-tos, cooking demonstration, comedy bites and concert clips we need to create a digital product experience. This mission, a platform that hosts our short-form video content and makes it accessible to our audience, needs a Product Manager. Someone to guide the creation, lead an Agile team of product designers and developers and oversee the design, development and launch of this new product.</p> <p>If you're passionate about Canada and you love technology, learning and bringing out the best in others, you&rsquo;ll love working at CBC.</p> <p><strong>Who you are and where are you now?</strong></p> <p>You are a Digital or Interactive Content Producer. You may be working at a digital advertising agency or in media and entertainment. You have expertise blending the creative with the analytical. You want a chance to lead a team that is as passionate about possibilities as they are about engaging products that deliver snappy, quick video bites of content that enlightens, informs and entertains all Canadians. You will collaborate across the organization - with the AV Platform team, Media solutions advertising, News content producers, strategy people - to support the creation and promotion of content and resources for the Canadian public.</p> <p><u>C</u>areer growth. You will deepen your skills as a Product Manager, a technologist, a leader and a relationship builder as you work with the size and scale of our content, our data and the demands of our audience. You will be given a chance to build out your team, participating in the end-to-end hiring process.</p>
Responsibilities: <p><strong>How you will make a difference:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Be an influencer in the creation of CBC&rsquo;s new audience-facing digital video experience. You will lead an Agile team of developers and designers to create inclusive and engaging product experiences that reflect CBC&rsquo;s mandate to inform, entertain and enlighten.</li> <li>Articulate the vision. You will develop the product strategy and roadmap. You will research current platforms (e.g., YouTube, SnapChat, Instagram). You will manage, review, and assess vendor services and tools as it relates to the product activities.</li> <li>Nurture a culture of collaboration, learning, creativity and fun. You will guide the work of a cross-functional team providing mentorship and direction. You will empower your team to propose new concepts.</li> <li>Be a champion. You will promote the CBC at recognized conferences, events and educational institutions. Requirements: <p><strong>What you bring:</strong></p> <ul> <li>The education. A University degree in IT, Business Management or a related field preferred, but we know not everyone gains their skills this way.</li> <li>The expertise. You have 3-5 years of experience in a similar role delivering complex, web-based projects in an Agile or Lean environment. You have successfully delivered ad-supported video to a variety of Internet-connected platforms and devices. You can:</li> <li>Scope and plan projects on time and on budget.</li> <li>Communicate and present product roadmaps with clarity around success, failures, and learnings to senior leaders.</li> <li>Travel once or twice a year across Canada to meet face-to-face with our short-form content producers.</li> <li>The leadership experience. You have a deep understanding of how to bring together and focus a team. You can both inspire and guide the work of a team and champion their success across the organization.</li> <li>The analytical and content knowledge. You are a strategic thinker and an idea-generator. You can make sense of, and apply, metadata, tagging and controlled vocabularies to describe video related content.
