MTIS is the team making it happen.</p> <p><strong>The opportunity</strong></p> <p>Reporting to the Senior Director &ndash; Engineering Solutions, CBC/Radio-Canada is seeking a Director, Production Systems, Engineering Solutions to spearhead the day-to-day and long-term work of a group of engineers and project managers based in Montreal and Toronto. This is a chance to provide strategic leadership, people management and technical expertise to your team as they focus on evaluating the needs and requirements of the media groups and our corporate environments. It&rsquo;s an opportunity to have your voice heard as you propose forward-looking technologies, processes and methodologies and concrete solutions consistent with an organization-wide vision of integrated infrastructure development.</p> <p><strong>Who you are and where are you now?</strong></p> <p>You are a thought-leader, a transformational strategist and a people manager with broad and deep experience overseeing the deployment of new technologies across a media, broadcast or communications organization. You are a technical leader, project manager and a mentor who can guide the work of their team; a presenter who can work across any level of an organization; and an Engineer with a toolbox of processes and plans. You have expertise guiding a team through a period of change management, providing guidance, removing roadblocks and offering resolutions. You are fluent in French and comfortable in English. Responsibilities: <p><strong>How you will make a difference, you will:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Manage the team and oversee the design of innovative, practical solutions to complex problems, particularly where new technologies are to be integrated into existing facilities or migrated to new facilities. Conceptualize alternative solutions which satisfy defined objectives. Approve concept designs for review with our business partners.</li> <li>Lead the strategic planning, providing expert advice on cost, timeframe and feasibility of capital requirements. Advise on and create the schedules and budgets for capital projects for the media lines; monitoring progress to ensure compliance with scope and objectives.</li> <li>Transform abstract concepts into fully developed, meticulously planned, media production and presentations systems.</li> <li>Oversee the procurement from writing and requesting quotes and proposals to evaluating tender responses and making recommendations. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</li> <li>Verify system performance against design criteria, ensuring identified deficiencies are corrected and providing documentation for ongoing operation and maintenance of facilities.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Why join us?</strong></p> <p>At CBC/Radio-Canada, we create content that informs, entertains and connects Canadians on multiple platforms. Requirements: <p><strong>What you bring:</strong></p> <ul> <li>The education. You have either a Bachelor degree in Engineering or a diploma In Applied Science and Technology. You are eligible for membership in the Ordre des ingénieurs du Quebec. Alternatively, you have an undergraduate degree from in a program that is accredited by the Canadian Information Processing Society (CIPS) such as a Bachelor of Computing Science or a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.</li> <li>The language skills. You are fluent French and comfortable communicating in English.</li> <li>The experience. You have 5+ years in a Director role or Senior Manager role, with a successful track record in delivering multiple major initiatives in IP and broadcast production technologies. You have up-to-date knowledge of multiple virtualization, storage and networking technologies; with web technologies; with the deployment of large-scale software systems; with key computer/network security concepts; with designing and implementing audio/video production, processing and delivery systems based on commodity, off-the-shelf, IT equipment. You have expertise in the integration of technical, conceptual and organizational knowledge applied to a wide range of situations across an organization. You are aware of modern, best practices.</li> <li>The innovation. You are a change agent and a creative problem solver who is skilled in evaluating numerous factors, both internal and external to scope, in determining the most appropriate course of action. You can envision and adapt new technologies in the design of new production or presentation broadcast systems.</li> <li>The project management expertise. You can navigate business and financial decisions; negotiate contracts and conflicts; drive the deliverables of critical projects on time. You understand how to work within the processes and use the significant budget as well as existing resources, tools and personnel to your advantage.
