Overview: As the Patent Attorney you will be part of a team responsible for the overall IP portfolio of the Company.<br /> <p><strong>Benefits:</strong> Our client offers a total compensation package that includes a comprehensive benefits package of health, dental and disability insurance along with a 401(K) retirement savings plan. Responsibilities: <p>Main responsibilities of the job are:</p> <ul> <li>Draft and file new patent applications (US, PCT and foreign).</li> <li>Prosecute patent applications in the US including responses to office actions.</li> <li>Provide instructions to foreign associates on prosecuting applications globally.</li> <li>All other patent-related activities like performing patent searches, harvesting and documenting invention disclosures, docketing, maintaining case files and tracking deadlines.</li> <li>Work closely with engineers to identify possible inventions and develop them in to viable IP.</li> <li>Conduct quarterly IP review meetings with the technology team and senior management.</li> <li>Develop and implement the global IP strategy together with senior leadership team.</li> <li>Lead and implement competitive monitoring and analysis of white space opportunities.</li> <li>Provide support and guidance on all IP-related matters to the business.</li> <li>Participate and conduct training as and when required.</li> <li>Create and foster a &ldquo;Safety First&rdquo; culture.</li> <li>Conduct business in an ethical manner in compliance with the company&rsquo;s policies.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong>Employee Profile:</strong> The ideal candidate for this position will possess a Science/Engineering degree (Material Science, Ceramics, Chemical, Mechanical or equivalent) with at least 5 years of experience in a similar role as a patent agent/attorney in a law firm or large company. Specific skill sets required / desired for this position include:</p> <ul> <li>Strong legal educational background and qualifications in case of a Patent Attorney.</li> <li>Registration with the USPTO as a patent agent or attorney.</li> <li>Familiarity with foreign patent prosecution (Europe, China, Japan, Korea, India etc.)</li> <li>Experience with trademark filings and prosecution is <strong>highly desirable</strong>.</li> <li>Experience with IP database systems like CPI, FoundationIP etc. is desirable.</li> <li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills.</li> <li>Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office, Adobe etc.</li> <li>Self-motivated and adept at multi-tasking and prioritizing to meet strict deadlines.</li> <li>Excellent inter-personal skills.</li> <li>Moderate travel (domestic and international).</li> </ul>
