Overview: <p>The primary objective of the Purchasing Manager is to ensure high quality and cost-effective material supply of all purchased materials. This position will lead the Purchasing team to ensure timely and accurate purchase orders are placed on suppliers.&nbsp;&nbsp; As necessary, the Purchasing Manager will work with other departments to successfully source new suppliers. Additionally, the position will lead the organization in establishment and management of the Supplier Qualification Process(es), ensuring the supplier is providing materials according to company specifications.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Competencies:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Previous Experience with an ERP system.</li> <li>Above Average Skills in Microsoft Office Suite</li> <li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and suppliers.</li> <li>Ability to respond quickly and effectively to uncertainty</li> <li>Communicates effectively with customers in writing, electronically and by telephone.</li> <li>Time and Project Management Skills</li> <li>Highly Organized</li> </ul> <p><strong>Leadership Responsibility:</strong></p> <p>This position manages the Purchasing Agent Position.</p> <p><strong>Work Environment:</strong></p> <p>This job operates in a professional office environment.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: </strong></p> <p>This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am &ndash; 5:00 pm.</p>
Responsibilities: <p><strong>Essential Functions:</strong></p> <p><em>Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. </em></p> <ul> <li>Lead the Purchasing Team, providing day-to-day leadership and management of both personnel and their processes</li> <li>Negotiate pricing in order to maximize margins while maintaining a high level of quality from the suppliers</li> <li>Establish buying contracts with suppliers.</li> <li>Create, manage and maintain blanket purchase orders on suppliers where appropriate.</li> <li>Ensure suppliers carry the proper levels of liability insurance and where feasible.</li> <li>Consider the total cost of ownership in all supplier agreements, including raw material cost, rate of exchange, transportation, duties and inventory cost.</li> <li>Establish a Supplier Qualification Process with input from the Quality, Engineering, Production and Finance Teams.</li> <li>Ensure timely execution of Purchase Orders to maintain proper inventory levels for Production.</li> <li>Work with Logistics and Production to establish proper safety stock levels. Targeting 7 to 8 inventory turns per year</li> <li>Develop KPI's to monitor supplier performance in the following areas, on-time-delivery, invoice accuracy, and material quality.</li> <li>Monitor supplier compliance and response to corrective action requests.</li> <li>Looks for and establishes new suppliers as warranted due to new products or ongoing poor supplier performance</li> <li>Develop and document Process efficiency programs with an eye towards lean processes</li> <li>Work with Sales, Marketing and Engineering on the release of new products and product features</li> <li>Assist Sales and Marketing with annual price setting and margin review processes</li> <li>Work with the Finance Department on the authorization of payments to suppliers</li> <li>Lead and/or participate in special projects as necessary.</li> <li>Support quarterly and annual planning regarding outgoing cash and margin protection.</li> <li>Represents company on Global Procurement Team</li> <li>Perform all functions within applicable USA, and local laws as well as within the corporate Code of Conduct</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong>Travel</strong></p> <ul> <li>International Travel to Asia and Europe along with some domestic travel will be expected (10 to 15%)</li> </ul> <p><strong>Required Education and Experience:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Associate degree with over 10 years of relevant experience</li> <li>International Sourcing Experience</li> <li>Previous Management Experience</li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred Education and Experience:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree in engineering, Purchasing or Business with over 5 years of relevant experience (preferred)</li> <li>Bi-lingual/multi-lingual would be helpful.</li> <li>Continuous Improvement Experience (ie Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen)</li> <li>Industry Certifications such as APICS or ISM</li> </ul> <p><strong>Work Authorization/Security Clearance:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Must have or be able to acquire a valid passport for international travel.</li> </ul>
