Overview: The role of the Senior Network Engineer is to manage a dynamic AWS cloud-based network consisting of network resources that support multi-tiered HA/Clustered AWS Transit Routing, Firewalls, Load balancers, and Monitoring capabilities using various cloud services within AWS. Other services like Checkpoint, Cisco ASA, Cisco routers, and operating systems (Windows and Linux) are a possibility in an on-prem contract. This role involves coordinating with the department team to plan, design, and schedule the release of all software and hardware, updates, and upgrades. This role is a member of a large technical team responsible for the design, development, and implementation (DDI) of the Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) for multiple states. This high-volume system operates out of multiple data centers and cloud environments like AWS and Oracle. Must reliably be available to its clients. <br /><br /><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>This is a contract position for 6 months. Working remotely within the United States is acceptable for this position.</strong></span>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Function as an individual contributor and work under minimal supervision with wide latitude for independent judgment designing, implementing, and maintain the organizations&rsquo; AWS Cloud Network and/or IT Infrastructure.</li> <li>Perform Sr. Level technical skills in troubleshooting, cause, and resolution.</li> <li>Document and archive all issues causes and resolutions.</li> <li>Develop and enhance processes and technical documentation, create back-up procedures, test plans, and reports.</li> <li>Provide day-to-day Network Engineer support to assigned Firewalls, Transit Routers, and load balancer for new deployments of systems, test, and evaluation of hardware, and maintain system documentation.</li> <li>Respond to and resolve customer problems with problem identification in the form of an after-action report.</li> <li>Provide an architectural framework for information network development, maintenance, and enhancement efforts.</li> <li>Install, configure, and maintain the organization's AWS Cloud strategy.</li> <li>Develop and manage policies on Cloud Checkpoint firewall and in on-prem Cisco ASA firewalls.</li> <li>Configure and manage Big-IP F5 LTM4200 Appliances, as well as Blue Coat web proxy and AWS VPN tunnels.</li> <li>Develop and maintain WAN Optimization technologies.</li> <li>Proactively check network system for error conditions and perform preventive maintenance.</li> <li>Utilize network management applications to perform fault detection, identify performance metrics, and generate reports to support specific service level requirements.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>You have a Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree, or in lieu of the degree, equivalent related work experience.</li> <li>You have a minimum of 5 years of related work experience.</li> <li>You have 1-2 years of implementation experience with AWS Cloud Services.</li> <li>You have hands-on working experience with AWS Cloud Services.</li> <li>You have an active CCNA certification.</li> <li>You have expert knowledge with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within systems administration.</li> <li>You have expert level analytical and troubleshooting skills.</li> <li>You are familiar with all network topologies and routing protocols.</li> <li>If you have the any of the below listed, it would be &ldquo;a plus&rdquo;: <ul> <li>CCIE (written) certification;</li> <li>CCNP certification;</li> <li>AWS Cloud Associate certification;</li> <li>Oracle Cloud experience;</li> <li>Experience in a healthcare/insurance project;</li> <li>Experience with State government projects.</li> </ul> </li> </ul>
