Overview: <br />Working under minimal supervision of the Director Microsoft Center of Excellence, the Professional Services Manager (PSM) facilitates the sales of Services through a consultative approach, focusing on understanding client business requirements and translating those to appropriate Services engagements. The PSM owns the development of proposals and Statements of Work (SOW) for assigned opportunities generally within one or more technology practice areas and of moderate to high complexity. Leads and manages the pre-Sales team in the SOW development process from deal kickoff to executive review. To that end, the PSM works with internal clients such as Account Managers, Solution Architects and System Engineers as well as the external client to translate customer business and technical requirements into an accurate Statement of Work contract and to facilitate the negotiation of Master Service Agreements, as appropriate. The PSM assigns and manages technical resources to meet customer deadlines. The PSM engages with the TSG PMO throughout the pre-sales process to ensure capabilities and a smooth transition from sale to implementation. In addition to managing a portfolio of projects, the PSM contributes to the development of the team by mentoring less experienced staff.
Responsibilities: <br /> <ul> <li>Owns the development of moderate to highly complex proposals and Statements of Work (SOW) for assigned opportunities generally within one or more technology practice areas with input from Sales and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) which may include System Engineers, Practice Managers or Directors, Solution Architects, OEMs, or partners. Leads and manages the pre-Sales team in the SOW development process from deal kickoff to executive review.</li> <li>Defines requirements and solutions for Services opportunities per request</li> <li>Manages work assignments in workflow tool and addresses concerns/requests by the deadlines.</li> <li>Participates in responding to valid RFI/RFPs.</li> <li>Actively tracks opportunities being worked on; forecasts upcoming business accurately.</li> <li>Maintains the client relationship and keeps the client and stakeholders engaged in the project (i.e., status reporting, issues management and risk management)</li> <li>Travels occasionally to customer or company sites (up to 10%)</li> <li>Translates customer business and technical requirements into an accurate Statement of Work which includes opportunity summary, task lists, client responsibilities, project-specific assumptions, out-of-scope items, pricing, including resources and billing structure.</li> <li>Collaborates with other teams to create consistent, clear, professional content.</li> <li>Obtains all necessary internal approvals.</li> <li>Consistently and effectively communicates Connection's value proposition to client stakeholders.</li> <li>Supports the development of the services offered by the Practice.</li> <li>Develops internal processes and documentation of service offerings; shares knowledge.</li> <li>Participates in Solution Development teams as assigned</li> <li>Handles various administrative tasks as required. Obtains and maintains required vendor sales certifications as required to support Connection certification requirements or goals.</li> <li>Ensures time and expenses are entered correctly and on time.</li> <li>Participates in mandatory company training.</li> <li>Serves as mentor to less experienced staff in solution development and SOW creation.</li> <li>Performs all other duties or special projects as assigned.</li> </ul> <br />
Requirements: <br /> <ul> <li>Working technical knowledge of the primary practice and secondary practice (Data Center, End User Computing, Security, Microsoft technologies, or Networking) with ability to quote for that practice.</li> <li>Technical aptitude with ability to absorb and apply newly learned technical skills</li> <li>Experience using Microsoft Word templates to create Statements of Work.</li> <li>Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint (particularly when it comes to formatting content and ability to perform calculations in Excel).</li> <li>Knowledge of requirements gathering, building project schedules, and creating project budgets.</li> <li>Exposure to project teamwork with ability to drive regular reviews and manage stakeholders</li> <li>Advanced working knowledge of professional services within a value-added reseller organization with ability to manage the pre-sales SOW process</li> <li>Customer-oriented with ability to listen to and anticipate needs of the customer.</li> <li>Attention to detail in composing, keying, and proofing professional business materials.</li> <li>Professional with ability to interact with all levels in the organization (and with external partners).</li> <li>Self-motivated with ability to manage engagements from beginning to end.</li> <li>Leadership skills with ability to lead engineer project teams.</li> <li>Excellent verbal and presentation skills with ability to respond professionally by email, telephone, and face-to-face with customers (internal or external).</li> <li>Excellent writing skills, including spelling and grammar, and ability to apply writing skills to communicate complex concepts in clear, concise language.</li> <li>Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously.</li> <li>Detailed, methodical, and accurate (high attention to detail).</li> <li>Persuasive, confident</li> <li>Adaptable with ability to switch tasks based on shifting priorities</li> <li>Analytical with ability to draw conclusions from data, systematic and rational</li> <li>Creative with ability to develop original solutions to problems.</li> <li>Decisive with ability to make a prompt determination and substantiate decisions if challenged.</li> </ul>
