Overview: <p>There is a need for an effective communicator, someone who is able to stimulate and motivate others while being aware of and responsive to their needs and concerns. In general, this is a position where guidelines, structure, and established policies must be followed fairly closely, while working with and for others.<br /><br />Use professional certification and technical expertise to provide cancer registry program services to CHAMPS Oncology facilities, including cancer information management, cancer registry operations and participation in cancer program activities.&nbsp; Create partnership with the hospital or facility staff to provide better information to be used in the management of cancer.<br /><br /><br /></p>
Responsibilities: <p><strong>Essential Functions:</strong></p> <ol> <li>Responsible for activities and/or functions relating to cancer information management, cancer registry operations and cancer program activities within the scope of services outlined in the designated contracts.</li> <li>Actively participates in cancer program reporting activities (i.e. cancer committee, survey readiness &amp;/or Commission on Cancer preparation function, etc).</li> <li>Performs data collection (abstracting) and reporting on eligible cancer cases in accordance with current state mandates and national accrediting agencies.</li> <li>Assigns codes to the collected data set items in accordance with current state and national accrediting agencies.</li> <li>Performs case ascertainment in accordance with current state and national accrediting agencies.</li> <li>Responsible to maintain compliance procedures to obtain information (follow-up) on progress of cancer patients.</li> <li>Prepares cancer registry reports and/or studies within required guidelines and/or timelines.</li> <li>Maintains cancer registry files in accordance with current state and national accrediting agencies.</li> <li>Professionally interacts with facility departments and medical organizations.</li> <li>Maintain professional memberships and credentials.</li> <li>Provide required weekly, monthly, and/or quarterly reporting to appropriate CHAMPS ONCOLOGY supervisor (i.e. work logs, timecards, registry status reports, etc).</li> <li>Other duties as assigned.</li> </ol> <p><strong>Additional Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ol> <li>Markets and promotes the designated department and its products/services.</li> <li>Participate in internal meetings to coordinate department goals and objectives with those of the organization.</li> <li>Promotes organization at trade shows and conferences.</li> </ol>
Requirements: <p><strong>Training and Experience</strong></p> <ol> <li>Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school;</li> <li>Required credential as a Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) in good standing with the National Cancer Registrars Association.</li> </ol> <p><strong>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities </strong></p> <ol> <li>Proficiency in Microsoft products, experience with at least one registry software</li> <li>Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with both internal and external customers to the organization</li> <li>Ability to interface well with all departments of the company and to represent The Center/ CHAMPS in a highly professional manner.</li> <li>Handles confidential and proprietary information.</li> <li>Ability to identify challenges and demonstrate independent judgment in decision making</li> <li>Takes initiative and demonstrates resourcefulness.</li> <li>Ability to work well as a team member while demonstrating and promoting corporate initiatives</li> <li>Ability to travel during regular business hours. Overnight and weekend travel may be required occasionally.</li> </ol>
