Overview: <p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">The Senior Underwriter &ndash; Commercial Finance will be responsible for structuring, analyzing, and underwriting commercial finance and equipment finance transactions originated through direct and indirect sources. The Senior Underwriter will support credit prescreening efforts and facilitate the preparation of approval memorandums presented to Divisional Management and, as applicable, the bank&rsquo;s Credit Committees. The Senior Underwriter will be a self-starter with the ability to work independently on complex transactions with little oversight. The Senior Underwriter will demonstrate strong credit, analytical, and written and verbal communication skills along with experience in financial modeling, portfolio management, and projection and sensitization analysis. The Senior Underwriter will work closely with Senior Account Executives in managing the overall credit approval through transaction closing, and thereafter take a lead role in the management of a portfolio of accounts. Although duties will be primarily focused in the equipment finance lending / leasing space, the Senior Underwriter is also expected to assist in the Credit process for the broader Commercial Finance team from time to time. This position will report to the Senior Vice President, Credit Officer&ndash;Commercial Finance. </span></p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Identify and analyze key credit risks and mitigants.</li> <li>Appropriately document and mitigate all Bank policy exceptions.</li> <li>Analyze collateral and identify mitigating collateral issues.</li> <li>Conduct financial modeling using Baker Hill, MRA, RMA, or other financial spreading software packages.</li> <li>Prepare approval memorandums incorporating key credit risks and recommendations for appropriate deal structure.</li> <li>Complete due diligence process in an expeditious manner meeting the prospect&rsquo;s expectations on direct transactions and within deadlines established by agent banks on participations and club deals.</li> <li>Effective and timely communication with credit management, borrower, and agent banks as well as with internal partners such as Treasury Management, Corporate Banking, Mezzanine, etc. engaging partners as appropriate throughout the underwriting process.</li> <li>Review legal documents, seek additional approvals to ensure compliance, and act as a leader in the documentation and closing process, as necessary.</li> <li>Occasionally work with Senior Account Executives on transaction prescreens for early identification of credit issues as well as providing structural, analytical, and indicative risk rating assistance.</li> <li>Conduct ongoing due diligence such as account monitoring, covenant compliance, and other portfolio management activities.</li> <li>Perform other duties as assigned.</li> </ul> <p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
Requirements: <ul> <li>A bachelor&rsquo;s degree preferably in business management, accounting and/or finance.</li> <li>At least 10 years&rsquo; of comparable experience. Preference will be given to candidates who have both commercial/equipment finance and leasing experience and middle-market bank experience.</li> <li>Strong credit and underwriting skills.</li> <li>Understanding of secured loan documentation; negotiation skills.
