Full-Time/Regular

Overview: Welds pressure vessel parts, subcomponents and non-pressure parts on the production line; welds metal components together to fabricate or repair products according to layouts, blueprints, or work orders, using Oxy-Acetylene welding, cutting and brazing. Uses GTAW, GMAW, FCAW and SMAW welding processes. In more advanced cases must be able to perform “open root” techniques on pressure parts using GTAW and GMAW Processes.
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Welds metal parts together, using Oxy-Acetylene welding and brazing processes; welds light gauge parts, intermediate and heavy metal parts together.</li> <li>May deposit intermittent tack welds for fit up and alignment of work assemblies.</li> <li>May be required to complete one or more welding processes such as GTAW, GMAW, FCAW or SMAW.</li> <li>Required to use different welding related equipment and tools and may be designated as a production line welder.</li> <li>Must be able to use jigs, fixtures and tooling for assembly of parts and components.</li> <li>Requires Oxy-Acetylene set up and disassembly.</li> <li>Guides electrodes holders, torches and filler material, in various welding applications at specified speeds, angles and feed rates to deposit weld metal and to make sound welds.</li> <li>Performs routine preventative maintenance on machines as scheduled and required for TPM.</li> <li>Works individually and as a team to develop and implement quality and efficiency improvements.</li> <li>Conducts in process visual inspections of welded products, or processes to evaluate quality or performance; examines products or work to verify conformance to specifications.</li> </ul> <strong>Additional Responsibilities</strong> <ul> <li>Required to pass employer welding performance tests or standard tests to meet certification standards of ASME, governmental agencies or professional and technical associations.</li> <li>Annual Visual Acuity Examination may be required</li> <li>May be required to cross train and demonstrate competency on all essential job functions of the department working at different work stations as production needs require.</li> <li>Establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships; training and teaching others.</li> <li>Maintenance of a clean and orderly work area free of excess materials.</li> <li>Support of and involvement in company, department, and/or safety policies, procedures, programs and activities.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>One year certificate from College or technical school; or a combination of six months to one year of related training and/or experience with specialized welding skills. ASME Welder positions may require five plus years&rsquo; experience depending on level of experience required.</li> <li>Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as heavy equipment manufacturing, welding technology, materials technology, manufacturing methods technology and a wide variety of weld methods and equipment knowledge, safety requirements; GTAW, GMAW, SMAW &amp; Brazing, pressure vessel, piping, pump, fluid transfer, heat transfer design experience preferred.</li> <li>Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, proportions and decimals. Ability and understanding of various measuring devices in meeting drawing dimensions and specifications.</li> <li>Ability to read and interpret documents such as WPSs, blueprints, work orders, work instructions, diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
