Overview: The UK Accountant is a new role reporting to the UK Controller. The role will support the UK Controller with various regular and ad-hoc accounting duties and in helping to improve on an ongoing basis the level of internal control, procedures, and processes within the business. It is envisaged that the role will evolve over time as it becomes more structured and defined.
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Assist the UK Controller with various project and initiatives to improve overall reporting and internal control environment for the company</li> <li>Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for accounts of the company</li> <li>Prepare and submit Intercompany recharges for other group entities</li> <li>Perform reconciliation of intercompany balances and activity monthly and investigate differences as appropriate</li> <li>Prepare and selection of Intercompany invoices for payment</li> <li>Perform cost rolls and checking of new standard costs part in JD Edwards (JDE) for the company</li> <li>Deal with post production work orders daily</li> <li>Identify BOM and costing errors; working with engineering department to make corrections</li> <li>Create missing standard costs for new purchase parts</li> <li>Perform month end close duties as assigned, journals, assisting with accruals and prepayments etc.</li> <li>Assist the UK Controller with annual external audit process and any related queries either from divisional or group Head Office</li> <li>Prepare and review monthly European Community sales returns (for value added tax (VAT) purposes)</li> <li>Prepare and file quarterly VAT returns</li> <li>Be the interface between accounts payable and purchasing assisting with resolving unvouchered open purchased receipts</li> <li>Ensure accurate coding of lease accounts payable invoices for compliance with IFRS16</li> <li>Run Credit checks on new customer accounts as and when necessary</li> <li>Provide support/back up on accounts receivable when necessary due to workload or holiday cover</li> <li>Provide support/back up on accounts payable when necessary due to workload or holiday cover</li> <li>Other ad-hoc duties as and when required</li> </ul> <div id="gtx-trans" style="position: absolute; left: 154px; top: 26.7639px;">&nbsp;</div>
Requirements: Qualifications, Skills The ideal candidate will possess the below qualifications and experience: <UL> <LI>BA or BSc in Accounting and/or Finance</LI> <LI>PQ / Finalist / Qualified Accountant</LI> <LI>Minimum of 2 - 3 years in accounting, finance and/or public accounting</LI> <LI>Prior experience with JD Edwards (JDE) business systems</LI> <LI>Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access and PowerPoint)</LI> <LI>Cognos or other financial reporting package experience</LI> </UL> In addition, candidates will possess: <UL> <LI>A high standard of accuracy with excellent written and spoken communication skills</LI> <LI>A good telephone manner</LI> <LI>Excellent computer and IT skills including; Word, Excel, Adobe and experience of using spreadsheets and databases.</LI> <LI>The ability to multi-task responsibilities simultaneously and work autonomously</LI> <LI>Excellent attention to detail and accuracy skills</LI> <LI>A self-motivated attitude, be driven, flexible and able to complete assigned tasks; results driven</LI> <LI>A Team player attitude with the ability to work independently.</LI> </UL>
