Overview: The purpose of this position is to create, implement and manage the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall (VWPAH)'s creative services projects and maintain high quality standards and ensure the consistency of the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall (VWPAH) identity.
Responsibilities: <strong>Essential Functions</strong> <ul> <li>Conceptualizes, designs and produces all print/web media related to Van Wezel Arts Hall (VWPAH).&nbsp; This includes, branding, logo design, brochures, posters, print ads, direct mail, email campaigns, signage and web-related media.</li> <li>Manages print production, carrying the graphics/marketing through to completion and performs press approvals as needed.</li> <li>Manages other vendor relationships, which include illustrators and photographers.</li> <li>Maintains all design archive files.</li> <li>As assigned, attends various weekend and evening public and private events such as meet and greets and VIP experiences.</li> <li>Focuses on marketing for the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall (VWPAH), but will be assigned projects for the Education Department as needed.</li> <li>The intent of this class description is to provide a representative summary of the types of duties and responsibilities that will be required of classifications given this title and shall not be construed as a declaration of the specific duties and responsibilities of any particular position.&nbsp;</li> </ul>
Requirements: <strong>Minimum Qualifications</strong> <ul> <li>A Bachelor Degree from an accredited college or university in graphic design, marketing, or similar field</li> <li>Five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience, preferably in a performing arts center environment; or the equivalent in education, training and experience that would provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.</li> </ul> <strong>Job Based Competencies</strong> <ul> <li>Knowledge of the principles and practices of public relations, marketing and their application to public non-profit performing arts centers.</li> <li>Strong design and production skills.</li> <li>Ability to develop multiple directions for print and web.</li> <li>Strong aesthetic sense with in-depth knowledge of color, layout, typography, corporate identity, branding, print production and printing process.</li> <li>Understanding of creative process and marketing communications.</li> <li>Ability to deliver compelling and technically accurate design and production files on schedule and on budget.</li> <li>Ability to work well in a close-knit team environment with strong interpersonal skills.</li> <li>Ability to excel in high-volume, fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.</li> <li>Must be organized, self-motivated and able to multitask while meeting deadlines.</li> <li>Prior experience managing full cycle of design through delivery, including management of vendor relationships, which include printers, designers and illustrators.</li> <li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills.</li> <li>Strong skills in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office.</li> <li>Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with the Van Wezel Foundation, VWPAH staff, professional associations, business organizations, producers, agents, the media, community civic groups and other members of the public.</li> </ul>
