Maintenance Technician

Overview: To perform a variety of paid parking system functions focused on ensuring parking meter equipment are fully operational, perform preventative maintenance on parking meter systems, pay stations, and as directed, collect parking meter revenues. Services include maintenance, repair, and janitorial tasks to maintain the cleanliness of the equipment.  
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Perform preventative maintenance and trouble-shooting of revenue control equipment.</li> <li>Maintain all parking meters throughout the assigned area and repairing damaged or inoperable meters.</li> <li>Collect parking meter revenue and transport to department office for reconciliation.</li> <li>Maintain adequate controls for security and integrity of collection process, accounting, and reconciliation of all revenues while performing duties.</li> <li>Monitor and evaluate meter equipment efficiency and proactively communicate issues or problems.</li> <li>Proactively address issues requiring minor repairs.</li> <li>Perform all janitorial-related tasks necessary to maintain parking facility including pressure washing, graffiti removal, solid waste collection, minor painting and mechanical sweeping of the facility.</li> <li>The intent of this class description is to provide a representative summary of the types of duties and responsibilities that will be required of classifications given this title and shall not be construed as a declaration of the specific duties and responsibilities of any particular position. Requirements: <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Job Based Competencies</strong></span><br /><br /> <ul> <li>Ability to work flexible shift schedules.</li> <li>Ability to be trained to operate and maintain cleaning equipment.&nbsp;</li> <li>Ability to be trained in the maintenance of the parking meter revenue equipment.&nbsp;</li> <li>Knowledge of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) system and procedures.&nbsp;</li> <li>Knowledge of safety requirements and practices.&nbsp;</li> <li>Skilled in maintenance, trouble-shooting and upkeep of assigned facilities and electronic and mechanized equipment.&nbsp;</li> <li>Ability to establish and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships with the general public, agencies, vendor representatives, and other employees.</li> <li>Ability to troubleshoot revenue control equipment and other equipment within the facility.&nbsp;</li> <li>Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment and react with discretion under varying conditions.&nbsp;</li> <li>Ability to track information and make mathematical computations quickly and accurately.&nbsp;</li> <li>Ability to keep accurate records and prepare reports neatly and legibly.</li> <li>Knowledge of record-keeping procedures and practices.</li> <li>Ability to use parking software to run reports and monitor system performance and to identify potential problems in equipment or software.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li> </ul> <br /><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</strong></span> This is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Work requires considerable physical activity including extensive walking, lifting, reaching, stooping, pulling, grasping, balancing, climbing, kneeling, standing and crouching. Work requires agility to adequately address all components and parts of the equipment. Incumbent is subject to inside and outside activity with no effective protection from weather changes. Safety precautions will be taken when handling cleaning chemicals and other hazardous materials. Visual acuity is required to operate equipment and perform routine maintenance tasks. Incumbent is required to hear sufficiently to perceive information at normal spoken word levels. Manual dexterity is required to operate equipment in performance of duties.&nbsp;
