Temporary Part-Time

$12.00 Hourly

Overview: Performs specialized work conducting and directing recreational programs and activities at a designated park, playground or other recreational facility. Promotes good relationships with neighborhood and activity groups. May lead one or more personnel when engaged in activities requiring additional recreation staff.&nbsp;<strong>This is a part-time position of less than 30 hours per week.</strong>
Responsibilities: &bull; Responsible for professional recreation work in directing specified activities at recreation facilities or major playgrounds.<br />&bull; Assists in providing a healthy and safe environment for the general public visiting the facility.<br />&bull; Recognizes, corrects and reports safety issues to supervisor.<br />&bull; Ability to perform tasks which require physical ability in a safe/efficient manner in a variety of weather conditions.<br />&bull; Participates directly in the planning and execution of programs and special events.<br />&bull; Leads year-round programming at the recreation facility which may include being assigned a specific population.<br />&bull; Coordinates a variety of programs which may include after school, school break and summer programs.<br />&bull; Works extensively with assigned population providing mentoring and guidance.<br />&bull; Ability to work a varied schedule based upon the needs of the facility.<br />&bull; The intent of this class description is to provide a representative summary of the types of duties and responsibilities that will be required of classifications given this title and shall not be construed as a declaration of the specific duties and responsibilities of any particular position. Requirements: <strong>Minimum Qualifications:<br /><br /></strong>&bull; High School Diploma or GED.<br />&bull; One (1) year of recreation experience.<br />&bull; Possession of and ability to maintain a valid State of Florida Driver's License is required.<br /><br /><strong>Job Based Competencies:<br /><br /></strong>&bull; Ability to instruct individuals and groups, to carry out in-service training as well as suggest and initiate new innovative activities and programs.<br />&bull; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.<br />&bull; Ability to maintain clear and comprehensive records and reports as specified by the department.<br />&bull; Ability to schedule and maintain a staff at the assigned facility.<br />&bull; Ability to maintain cash receipt reports and point of sale function at the assigned facility.<br />&bull; Computer literate including Microsoft Office Suite.<br />&bull; Skilled at managing groups of program participants with a variety of backgrounds and personalities.<br />&bull; Ability to relate to assigned population while maintaining professional boundaries and setting an outstanding example of personal excellence.<strong><br /></strong>
