Probationary Full-Time

$40,831.23 - $52,059.90 Annually

Overview: Responsible for technical and administrative work for the Zoning Division. Informs the public on interpretations of the Zoning Ordinance and changes in the Ordinance.
Responsibilities: Works with engineers, architects, attorneys, developers and property owners on land development within the scope of zoning regulations.<br />&bull; Answers questions of the public relating to zoning matters, verbally or in writing.<br />&bull; Interprets and/or enforces all City regulations and policies regarding zoning, signs, street names and numbering, etc.<br />&bull; Makes field inspections when necessary to clarify plans.<br />&bull; Reviews zoning site plans and building plans for compliance to the Zoning Code.<br />&bull; Receives variance applications, fills out Board of Adjustment history sheets and works with the public regarding variances.<br />&bull; Keeps zoning logs and records current.<br />&bull; Confers with the Senior Zoning Analyst on all related questions concerning site and development review, plans review, complaints and variances.<br />&bull; The intent of this class description is to provide a representative summary of the types of duties and responsibilities that would be required of classifications given this title and shall not be construed as a declaration of the specific duties and responsibilities of any particular position. Incumbent may be required to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this job description.
Requirements: <strong>Minimum Qualifications:</strong><br /><br />Two (2) years of college with four (4) years of experience in public relations work, government regulatory work, or legal enforcement work; or the equivalent in education, training, and experience, which would provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities. Possession of and ability to maintain a valid State of Florida Driver's License is required.<br /><br /><strong>Job Based Competencies:<br /></strong><br />&bull; Knowledge of the principles and practices of zoning and application of the Zoning Code to presented situations.<br />&bull; Knowledge of subdivision regulations, FEMA regulations and other development ordinances.<br />&bull; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, contractors and fellow employees.<br />&bull; Ability to understand and interpret plans and specifications and determine whether plans meet the requirements of the Zoning Code.<br />&bull; Ability to present ideas and findings clearly and concisely in both written and oral form.
