Overview: <p>To operate one or more types of complex machinery and heavy equipment used in the City's facilities and systems. To perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled maintenance tasks. Pay and benefits negotiable within the parameters for this position.&nbsp;Selected candidate must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen.&nbsp;</p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Loads refuse, dirt, rock, asphalt, gravel concrete, or any other material that is to be hauled inside facility and/or on long haul trailers as assigned.</li> <li>Maintains traffic flow within the facility to safely guide all vehicles entering, exiting and dropping off within the facility.</li> <li>Maintains upkeep and cleanliness of facility and equipment daily.</li> <li>Operates, maintains and performs minor repairs on a variety of machinery and equipment including, but not limited to, loader, backhoe, air compressor, grinder etc.</li> <li>Assists in planning job assignments; explains job specification on job site.</li> <li>Maintains records and documentation; completes all records daily.</li> <li>Tarps all loads including refuse, dirt, rock, asphalt, gravel concrete, or any other material that is to be hauled.</li> <li>Locks machinery, equipment and vehicles daily; checks in with office staff at the end of each shift.</li> <li>Conducts visual and random inspections of loads.</li> <li>Provides the public with information about facility procedures, charges and options for services in a courteous and efficient manner.</li> <li>Attends training sessions offered and/or required.</li> <li>The intent of this class description is to provide a representative summary of the types of duties and responsibilities that will be required of classifications given this title and shall not be construed as a declaration of the specific duties and responsibilities of any particular position. Requirements: <p><strong>&nbsp;Minimum Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or GED</li> <li>Two years of experience in solid waste or related field operating heavy equipment; or equivalent in education, training, and experience which would provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.</li> <li>Ability to possess and maintain a valid Class "B" or higher State of Florida Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within 6 months is required.</li> <li>Ability to possess and maintain Transfer Station Certification within 6 months as required by position.</li> </ul> <strong>Job Based Competencies</strong> <ul> <li>Knowledge of operation and maintenance requirements of a variety of light and heavy power-driven equipment.</li> <li>Knowledge of practices, methods and materials used in the construction and maintenance of facilities.</li> <li>Knowledge of safety practices and precautions to observe when operating heavy machinery and equipment.</li> <li>Ability to understand follow oral and written instructions.</li> <li>Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.</li> <li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and the general public.</li> </ul> <div id="details-benefits" class="tab-pane">&nbsp;</div> <div id="details-questions" class="job-details-questions tab-pane">&nbsp;</div>
