Overview: To provide general Golf Shop and outside operations management. Preferred candidates will possess cash handling or accounting/bookkeeping skills and retail supervisory experience - in a golf shop a plus - and be available to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Maintains efficient and accurate computer systems for accounting and bookkeeping relative to departmental budget, golf reservations, point of sale and perpetual inventory control system for the Golf Shop.</li> <li>Assembles information needed for supervision of ongoing operations of the golf shop, cart barn and starters.</li> <li>Assure adequate staffing of the Golf shop, cart barn and starters within allotted budget.</li> <li>Assists in supervision of golf club for daily and special events.</li> <li>Assists with the acquisition of merchandise and supplies required for the ongoing operation of the Golf Shop.</li> <li>Develops ideas and concepts for the planning and promotion of City sponsored events.</li> <li>Develops and provides content for the department website and acts as editor for the site's content.</li> <li>Assists in resolving problems with food and beverage concessionaire and maintenance contractor, in regard to course usage, event conflicts, cancellations, rainouts, and special events.</li> <li>Performs general administration functions in connection with departmental programs, such as personnel policies and procedures.</li> <li>The intent of this class description is to provide a representative summary of the types of duties and responsibilities that will be required of classifications given this title and shall not be construed as a declaration of the specific duties and responsibilities of any particular position. Incumbent may be required to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this job description.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Minimum Qualifications:</strong></span><br /> <ul> <li>&bull; Associate Degree with a major in Business/Public Administration, Sports Management, Accounting/Marketing or related field.</li> <li>&bull; Two (2) years of practical experience as a managerial level employee at a multi-course golf club, preferably government owned, with restaurant and golf shop, one (1) year of which was in a supervisory capacity. Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted for the education requirements.</li> </ul> <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Job Based Competencies:</strong></span><br /> <ul> <li>Knowledge of City and Bobby Jones Golf Course regulations, rules and procedures to the maintenance and operation of the Golf Shop and Golf Course.</li> <li>Knowledge of the game of golf and the best modern practices in golf course and Golf Shop operations.</li> <li>Knowledge of public administration and management with specific reference to the basic principles of organization and finance.</li> <li>Knowledge of research techniques and of the available sources of information.</li> <li>Knowledge of statistical concepts and methods, basic cash handling and bookkeeping principles and procedures.</li> <li>Knowledge of Business English, spelling and arithmetic.</li> <li>Knowledge of marketing and advertising techniques with ability to create email blasts and perform internet marketing.</li> <li>Knowledge of computer software packages utilized in golf course operations. Previous experience with EZ Links, point of sales and GHIN Handicap system a plus.</li> <li>Knowledge of and skilled in the use of PC-based software for word processing, electronic spreadsheets and database structures and commands.</li> <li>Familiarity with Internet and Intranet use and various associated applications.</li> <li>Ability to learn and adapt to changes in computer software and technology.</li> <li>Ability to make sound decision in accordance with rules, regulations, and policies and procedures.</li> <li>Ability to make computations and tabulations with speed and accuracy.</li> <li>Ability to maintain complex records and to prepare reports from such records.</li> <li>Ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.</li> <li>Ability to analyze facts and to exercise sound judgment and to arrive at sound conclusions.</li> <li>Ability to understand and to follow complex oral and written instructions and to interpret and apply established BJGC procedures and polices.</li> <li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, sponsors and participants in tournaments and events, other City employees and officials, the media and the general public.</li> </ul>
