Overview: <p>The Database Architect will design enterprise database systems and set standards for operations, programming, security, and availability. The Database Architect will design relational databases, integrations between business applications, and reporting structures.&nbsp;In addition, the Database Architect will seek to improve system performance functionality and reliability.</p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Collaborate with system architects, software architects, business analysts, and others to understand business and industry requirements.</li> <li>Develop database architectural strategies at the modeling, design and implementation stages to address business and industry requirements.</li> <li>Design database data transfer and integration mechanisms.</li> <li>Oversee the migration of data from legacy systems to new solutions.</li> <li>Design databases to support business applications and reporting, ensuring system scalability, security, performance, reliability, and availability.</li> <li>Assess database implementation procedures to ensure they comply with internal and external regulations and recommend solutions to improve new and existing database systems.</li> <li>Create and enforce database development standards, identify deviations from said standards and educate staff members through training and individual support.</li> <li>Document and communicate database architectures and schemas.</li> <li>Recommend and design data archiving procedures.</li> <li>Identify, evaluate and recommend hardware or software technologies to achieve desired database performance.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and best practices.</li> <li>Strong understanding of designing reliable, scalable, secure and highly available databases.</li> <li>Strong understanding of data warehousing design principles.</li> <li>Strong understanding of methods of efficient system data integration.</li> <li>Familiarity with the concepts of data governance.</li> <li>Excellent written and oral communication skills.</li> <li>Strong technical documentation skills.</li> </ul>
